Which flag will be prominently displayed - exterior of the Chrysler building on July 4th, 2008?

Do you think a major mainstream news source is going to report if there is a flag flying -- or if there isn't a flag flying?

Here's what I think, on July 4th, the day that has the most flag waving in the United States, except maybe Flag Day there will be parades and activities all over the country, I think it would be a very obvious story if the flag flying on the most iconic building in NYC was something other than the US flag, so to answer your question, yes, I think it would be a story only IF the flag was something other than the US flag.

Or, as an alternative settlement I could ask the HD community, anyone in the area to simply look out the window and let us know.

I agree with you -- and that might settle one of the four options for this market ... it's settling the other three options successfully that's problematic.

I concede your point, but I'd like to make it work somehow, any ideas newswrangler? I checked for webcams in the area and there were a couple that showed the building, but close up enough to view the existing flag.

Might want to include either wording or options to include "with US Flag" or "no US Flag flown with UAE flag".

Maybe other users will have other suggestions.

I find it unlikely that the American Flag would be taken down, however adding more flags would not be unusual.

I agree this might be difficult to settle. I think only the US flag will be flying on 7/4 because Abu Dhabi would not want the negative publicity inherent in doing otherwise.

Aha! You've hit the nail on the head... It's got to be maddening to think that you (they) are prepared to spend hundred of millions to control this building, which can never actually leave US soil, but that they would be prohibitted, either actually or by convention, from putting their name (flag) on it. This is why I created the market, similar controversy has occured at other big prominent landmarks when new owners come on the scene.
