The settlement time needs to be 10 hours later then it is, so that FF gets a full day or 24 hours.

No worries arnos - that's the suspend time (when you can't bet anymore) not the settlement time. It will get a full 24 hours.
posted 24 weeks ago
I wonder why I haven't received "an updated version is available" message from Firefox.

Looks like the Mozilla servers are suffering under the load.
posted 24 weeks ago
Good point though about the suspend time - I've moved it so that the market suspends 5 minutes before the 24 hour period is up. Now that's fixed can someone at Mozilla boot up another server (or 20) so I can get my copy!

Think about this Firefox 2 didnt have anywhere close to as many downloads as they want now for firefox 3!

@newswrangler
the current version to be spread is a RC it is not the official final version. that would be the one you get with the auto-update functionality.

I serously think the starting odds (50%) are way off therefor. When released officially it could reach 5 Mio (because of auto-update) but i doubt it will be enough today.
But I won't suspend because its a question made by nigel (eh, user number 3, you know?)

hey, why don't go and get Opera 9.5, just released?

Makes no sense to me -- if it's not the official release, why have all the hype about it, the attempt for the Guinness World Record, etc.

I was confused about this when I read about download day -- it seemed like there were "concerns" then that 3.0 would not make the final release in time. I'm not any clearer about it now.

Can someone clarify at exactly what time did v.3.0 become available for download? i.e. (pardon the pun) at what time, are we looking to hit 5 million by?

You can keep track of the number at: http://www.spreadfirefox.com/en-US/worldrecord

Their 24 hour cutoff is listed as 18:16 UTC (1116 PDT)

I've been using v3 for some time now... I downloaded it when it was still in beta... I have no idea if I'm still using a beta version or the real deal... Help/About tells me I have "Firefox version 3.0"

It appears they are going to fall well short. You have to figure most of the downloads from those using 2.0 has already happened and you wouldn't imagine them keeping the pace through the end of 24 hour period. Plus they exceeded what they expected. 5 million is a huge number.

The pace that they are keeping up is shocking. I figured as the US got past 9 or 10pm it would slow down considerably, doesn't seem to. I am surprised, and shortly out a huge amount of h$.

As I went to the download page a few hours ago and than took a look at the release notes, it stated the version to be RC2.

Well, meanwhile it seems they have updated these pages. Sorry for any confusion - obviously they made the Final Release of FF3 available.

They proved me so wrong in my expectations. Congratz to FF:

Opera 9.5 did just 4.5 Mio.

in 5 days

Glad to see FireFox gaining in popularity. Great idea! Great program! Now if they can just get Linux up to the same functionality we can cast off Microsoft once and for all.
