Wow, that lasted ALMOST a week.

I had a side bet going on a week or less with a friend. It has been proven time and time again these people (terrorists and their client states) are incapable of negotiating in "good faith". Easy money!

As far as I can see, this article states that while the truce has been tested, it is still in place:

"Despite what it called a "gross violation" of the truce, Israel refrained from military action and said it would send an envoy soon to Egypt to work on the next stage of a broader cease-fire agreement: a prisoner swap that would bring home an Israeli soldier held by Hamas for more than two years.

Hamas, the militant Islamic group that rules Gaza, promised to rein in the Iran- and Syria-backed faction that carried out the rocket attacks and pledged to remain committed to the truce that went into effect June 19 and urged restraint by all sides."

I'll unsuspend the question.

@ lesley

Indeed, a level of restraint seems to be playing out. Interesting though that the headline has changed on this article from when I intially read it yesterday. Thanks for your reply on this.

Rocket hits Israel, second violation of Gaza truce:

http://apnews.excite.com/article/20080626/D91HV0FGG.html

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said it should not matter who was behind the rocket attack.

"I am not interested in who fired and who didn't fire at Israel," she told reporters. "It is a violation, and Israel needs to respond immediately, militarily, for every violation."

Hamas is now saying they will not extend the truce beyond 6 months, but Israel is saying there is no time limit on the truce.
