NFL 2008: Which NFL Division will produce the highest net points during regular season?

Current forecast: AFC East (16% chance)
Combining all predictions, the current most likely outcome is AFC East with a probability of 16% (unchanged in last 1 day)

The last games of the regular season are on Sunday, December 28. This market will suspend at 8:00 PST, Saturday, December 27. Make sure you have your final predictions in by then.

Net Points is defined as "Points For" minus "Points Against".

The sum of the net points for each team within each division will be used to determine the outcome of this prediction market.

In other words, subtract the points scored against a team from the points scored by the team. Then, add the net points for the teams within each division. The NFL Division with the most 'net' points, wins! (Don't forget, some teams will have negative 'net' points.)

Hey, I'm not going to make a decision over this market. I'll get onto Donal and allow him to decide.

Seems kinda complicated....how about one for just most total points scored . . . and maybe another for fewest total points scored....

This might be a fun market, but a little hard to keep up to date data...

As the season draws nearer, we'll be seeing a lot of interesting questions posed, beside the simple 'who will win' ones.....

Does anyone know if there is a site that keeps track of stuff like this?

NFL.com is a great source of statistics. They keep track of everything in the NFL.

yeah they track everything, this wont be a problem. this still shouldn't be marked as in play, it's just a normal question...

I don't know if this needs to be a 'live-play market . . . the only time that would really enter into consideration would be the last weekend of the season...I say make it a regular question that would not suspend until the last day of play...it might be decided by then anyway, but there might be a blowout the last weekend...

Live Play should be for individual games...and probably not for every game...maybe just one or two 'premier' contests each weekend, or perhaps the special weekly games like Monday Night games...

First of all, there is no such thing as a "Seasonal" in-play market. As Bayou said, Live in-play is for individual games. Therefore this question is not In-Play

Secondly, users don't decide which questions are in-play. Admins Do. If you want a question to be authorised as in-play, then get permission from the admins and they will make the appropriate changes.

Forget it, I'll just stay away from creating anything resembling an 'in-play' market.

How long does a user have to wait to get guidance from an admin?

@cognos - Donal is on vacation, and Hopkirk (Brian) is just filling in. Any major decisons (like live play) would have to pass through Brian to Donal and back again... so answer: a long time.

But good news is all your questions are open again! Yeah! Hope they get a lot of traffic. I have a feeling I'm going to need to pick a team to pay attention to this season so that I can participate a little bit... I'm getting the impression there are going to be a LOT of football questions this season!

thank you once again jenniandboys!
you continue to be a fountain of level-headedness and thought-provoking analysis.
yeah! the markets are re-open, now i've got to 'market' them a bit. I'm taking some of the widgets, and adding them to sub-page on my web-site. I'm hoping to drive more traffic to hubdub, now that most of the bugs have been worked out.

yes. lots and lots of nfl markets. we could really use a templating system.

@cognos - I have asked Donal and the tech guys for a template. I have also asked for guidance on whether we want to create markets in which we use point spreads and then have 50-50 odds, or try to adjust the starting odds and make the game heads up. I know Donal is open to in play markets for the NFL season, so it will just be an issue of picking the right markets, and at first using the Monday night game as the game for those in play markets. As the season moves on I think we will be able to expand some of the in play games.
I know there seems to be alot of excitement going into the NFL season. I also hope we can expand the college games as well (there I think point spread games would be most exciting).
I saw you were a Texas Tech college fan, but didn't see who you root for in the NFL. I am a Steelers fan in NFL and Buckeyes fan in college.
