Hubdub Community


Category editors admin icon

Category Editors are employees of Hubdub who generally work remotely and are located across the world. They can be identified by the small admin icon next to their names, along with other staff. The category editor’s role is to curate and market their category. Specifically, a category editor is responsible for:

  * Managing and settling questions
  * Ensuring their category represents relevant news events
  * Marketing their category externally
  * Settling disputes and responding to queries
  * Helping build the Hubdub rules, conventions and product

There are a limited number of Category Editor positions. When positions become available, they will be advertised on the website. Our Category Editors generally possess an outstanding knowledge of Hubdub, as well as the following attributes: an in-depth knowledge of current affairs; clear judgement and excellent written English; strong people focused approach; experience with social networking, social media sites and internet marketing.


Super Users admin icon

Super users are members of the Hubdub community who have volunteered to help grow and promote the well-being of the whole community. They are mediators between the community and staff, and guides for new members of the community, as they share the insight and wisdom they have gained as experienced Hubdub members. Unlike Category Editors, they are not accountable for anything beyond their own actions. Super users can are identified by a small admin icon icon icon next to their user name. Superusers may perform the following:

  * Flag a question that is the subject of dispute
  * Suspend a question that is due for settlement
  * Respond to comments and queries on market pages and Get Satisfaction
  * Friend users and shouting with them

When positions for Super User status become available, we will advertise these on the website. We may ask members if they are interested in becoming Superusers, and members may also nominate themselves for the position. We are looking for members who:   * Have a record of successful question creation
  * Participate actively in the community - provide useful and timely flags and settlement requests, and make useful comments
  * Have no history of gaming
  * Show respect towards and willingness to help other members of the community

Additionally, Super Users must be seen to be responsible, to understand the concept and purpose of Hubdub, its rules and how it operates, and to able to provide intelligent, balanced judgements.


How can I get involved?

Our members have blown us away with their passion for and dedication to the site. We encourage everyone to share their wisdom with the crowd and listen to all suggestions we get from our members. If you show us that you are enthusiastic about the site, understand how it works and have ideas on how to make it better, we are likely to reward you with a Superuser title. There are a number of ways to participate usefully in the community:

Create useful and interesting content!
- Write up a question on a good news story that hasn't already been covered. Check out our good creation guide, or ask a Superuser for help if you need.
- Place predictions on interesting questions, to boost them into the 'hot' category and help get them noticed by others in the community
- Suggest photos for markets that don't already have them - send in a flag from the market page, with a link to the photo.

Share your wisdom with the community!
- Post comments and participate in discussions on the markets.
- If you find an updated news article on a market, post the link on the comments page.
- Send in any handy hints you have for fellow users to Tisha, the community manager, at tisha [at] hubdub.com.

- Got a good marketing idea? Know a big blogger who would be interested in testing the site? Send an email to Lesley at lesley [at] hubdub.com

Help us monitor the site!
- Found a question that should have been settled? Send in a settlement request on the market page, stating the correct option and a verifying link.
- Think there's something technically wrong with a question? Send in a flag on the market, stating the problem.
- Need to clarify something about a question? Write up a comment on the question page, asking for clarification from the question creator, superusers, or community.
- Suspect someone is gaming the site? Contact us.

Make links with the community!
- Make friends with new and old members, and give them a friendly helping hand.
- Complete your friends' challenges, and challenge them to predict on your questions.
- Send out friend invites to people in your inbox using the 'find friends' feature.
- Post your predictions on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, or social media sites. Use our widget to increase the community and boost your profile as a news forecaster.
