Fascinating question and a great set-up! Thanks!!
I don't want to weigh in on the wording of the question or on the larger issues being discussed here. But I do have to say that I think the initial likelihoods (Yes -20%) on this question were waaayyy off.
@Destry - I agree. Great question set-up.
@tisha. I just flagged it with a request for a definition of "weep". I think it might mean different things to each of us.
@mrprfkt. Hey Mark? What is the rule in the event that they don't resume play? Does the market stay open overnight?
@ryanj. Don't complain. Mexican food is even worse here in Malaysia.
Hi Tom! It's been a couple of weeks and I have to say that I still don't like the new homepage format as well as I liked the previous one. I still think it's preferable to show the different categories to better highlight the diversity of questions at hubdub. Questions of interest to users outside the U.S. and U.K. tend to get buried. And, I think that jenni's comments about the format favouring superusers and admins with a long friend-list are also valid. Might I suggest that you return to the prior homepage format but provide users with the option of viewing questions ranked by number of predictors if they so wish.

Once again, I want to pass along our thanks for all the work you are doing to develop and test out new formats. However, in this case, my personal opinion is that Hubdub had it right the first time.

@taternutz5. Awesome question format! Thanks for all the work you put into question preparation on this one. It's going to be tons of fun to play this format ...
Hi Tom. I appreciate the work you've put into this new format but, like the other comments here, I have to say that I liked it better when the categories were front and centre. Neuronexmachina's (3) suggestion about using the new sorting method within each category has a lot of merit. But, I think it detracts from Hubdub's overall appeal to not highlight the breadth of question topics that we have here. Thanks again.

@neuronexmachina (16). I think that's a great idea. I would enjoy tracking a leaderboard that ranked question-makers. In time, the top makers would begin to develop their own following and would become recognised for their craft (and therefore more of tocm's warm fuzzies). I think it's valuable to build a leaderboard for ranking those who are best at developing questions and keeping it separate from those who are best at making predictions.

@mrperfkt. Hey, thanks Mark. I think it's a great idea to save the in-play format for the bigger events! And don't worry about your Panthers -- I've been a Leafs fan ever since the mid-60's when I was in elementary school (which, incidentally, was the last time they won the Cup!) Thanks again for doing such a great job on the sports markets!

@mrperfkt. Hey Mark! It's great to see the in-play NFL questions. Can we have a few NHL games on in-play as well? I had a change to predict on the in-play market for the final Stanley Cup game last season and it was a blast. Thanks, AlanD (Malaysia)

I've just switched from YES to NO on this one. Things are still a little unpredicatable here but, with no new developments so close to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays, I don't think anything is going to happen by September 30, if at all.
@dieseldog. Yes, that's my understanding of the rules also.

However, kida raises an important point at #2.
There should be a choice for a KO. Given
Manny's punching power and Oscar's size difference, it's not at all inconceivable
that one or the other could end up on the canvas for a 10 count. This would be
a KO, not a TKO.
Actually, his prediction was to assume control by September 16.
@infernal: Initially, the decision was made in response to an Islamic students' organisation. After it was announced, the musicians' union, some NGOs and a whole lot of bloggers urged the government to allow the concert to go ahead. It looks like the concert is definitely on ... whether there are subsequent actions will depend on what the stage show and audience conduct is like, I guess.
I live in Malaysia. This is a pretty big issue here right now.
I still think it changes the original intent of the question if you add on an arbitrary qualifier for tie settlement. Why golds? Why not gold+silver? Or gold+team-size? I think that if it's a tie and there is no applicable option, then the question should be voided. Hopefully, a tie will not occur and this won't be an issue.
Sorry, jenni, but if there is a tie in total medal count, shouldn't the
question be voided? There are other questions about the number of golds.
I voted on this one based on the "win most medals" wording. Unfortunately,
there was no choice given for what would happen in the event of a tie.
Does famine count as a "natural disaster"?
What about AIDS?
If she succumbs to her illness and her remains are removed from the penitentiary before August 1st, will that count as a "release"?
Hi Nigel! Great question! If the bill is amended, dies on the Order Paper or is withdrawn, this settles as a 'no', right?
