Hello curios, you're welcome on the friending from me.... regarding my market about the Israeli PM... the outcome seems to be coming into focus but it's hard to predict with absolute certainty the outcome, so to answer your question, no I don't think it should be voided. Hey Chris. Glad you're going to try to make it for the in-play this weekend. As for a link to follow along, if you go to the link below at the time of the game (Sat 8:00pm EST), there should be an option for "game channel" where you can follow along play by play.

    Hi Chris,

The porcelain piece is a collector's item. I found it at an Interior Decorator's shop and have never seen anything quite like it again. If you would like to discuss "hubdub strategy", please send me an email address...I'd be happy to have a chat with you and review your strategy with you. Happy to help a mate!

The Prince's Head avatar I use is a fabulous piece of Mangani porcelain from Florence, Italy, that dates to 1977. It cost me a month's salary at the time I bought it, and I have never regretted it. Actually I found it in South Africa.

    Hi Chris,

You are right about Rand being the South African currency. Burg meaning a city or "berg". Actually, you hear the last one in Europe, i.e. Heidelberg in Germany. What Rand refers to here is: the Witwatersrand: Johannesburg is built on the gold reef called the Witwatersrand, and Rand is short for the Witwatersrand.

Actually I love to talk about South Africa, because I enjoyed my time there very much. Great memories, not bad memories. Sad eventual outcome. A polished jewel reverted back to being third world, by choice no less...Almost hard to imagine.

    Hi Chris!

I'm overdue in answering your question and chatting with you. I visited South Africa from 1968 to 1971 and lived there from 1971 to 1995. It is easiest to say that I lived there from 1968. I watched Johannesburg become a very modern and beautiful city. I was a Management Consultant involved in developing large corporations within an African infrastructure, with a special interest in developing Black Africans for key corporate positions. I liked South Africa very much, although the changes that began to occur around 1990 were irreversible. When I left in 1995, the large cities had been "overrun". Parks and the sides of freeways became tinshack towns, and black on black violence became a serious problem. Crime became very serious -- due to staggering unemployment and uncontrolled ownership of AK-47 machine guns -- and today I am not sure how I got out alive. It was a fantastic experience which I enjoyed very much -- the experience of a lifetime -- but I doubt if I ever will go back for a visit. I have wonderful memories. During this period, I also visited Australia and New Zealand. Canberra was only ten years old in 1971! I was quite impressed, especially by the National Library and the suspended maps...

Colin Powell is a well-respected man, although he surprised me last week by endorsing Obama at the last minute. I thought he was maintaining "neutrality", and respected him for it. Interesting possibility that he might consider running sometime as an independent. Not sure. Anyway I think money is fairly safe on this question this year!

Our military in the US tends to be Republican party oriented, possibly because the Republicans favor increased military spending (to patriotically support our troops). The Republicans are more supportive of the Iraq war; the Democrats wants out of it. Of course we also have Democrat military as well, but I don't think I have heard of "independents" in the military. I hesitate to say these things, because I could be wrong about the independents. Thanks for the reply! Hope you are well...

Thank you for sharing that with me. I guess there are always some problems in any group. Overall hubdub has a pretty nice group of people, as you get to know them...Sometimes we yell a bit and most of us like to debate, but most people seem to be well-meaning...and then there are always a couple who make it difficult..

One thing to consider is that an opinion poll taken on hubdub itself might produce varying results on who would be regarded as difficult members...? Also, some of your opinions of members change with time as you watch various people's comments...I think it is safe to say that "overall" there is a very high level of intelligence on this site among visibly active members...and then, at least half of the registered members are inactive --

I think what I am trying to say is that: while sometimes matters get irritating, overall hubdub is very mentally stimulating among some rather nice people...Do you find similar?

I also got a very sarcastic reply from Destry. He says that life is not all about "puppies and rainbows"...Many replies I get from Destry are sarcastic. He seems to think that he has the right to "tell people off" officially, on behalf of hubdub...

    Hi Curios.

I notice you have been creating a lot of questions lately and I'm glad.

Please don't take offense, I want to give you a couple minor suggestions. Many of your questions have needed adjustments because of grammar but many of them only require minor changes.

Sentences always start with a capital letter, around here it is usually a 'W' (Who, What, When, etc.) Names of people and months of the year always start with a capital letter as well. If you use these when creating your questions you will save the administrators the effort required in editing.

    Regards,
    Arno

I have conflicting info from the BSE site itself that refers to trading beginning at 9:30...just to be on the safe side, I set the time to work with the earlier period.

I did see a reference elsewhere to the 9:55 time, but just wanted to be safe, so I went with the time from their site.

From what I have seen of your AFL they seem to be really good at kicking on the run, so being able to kick from a stationary position is probably very easy for them. Plus we let them wear pads. Sorry to hear that you don't get games there, I know that there are some great websites for following the sport if you desire. Chat later.

Yeah, i know. It's amazing how you can come up with an interesting, never been done before market, and then, everybody jumps on it. Well, that is what this site is about, mostly.
All I can say, is that you created a well-thought out market, and saw great success. Now, the trick is to "perfect" that market so other Hubdubbers will come and enjoy it every day.
I know I'll wager, if you create 'em.
    Thanks again, mate.

Fair question. I make spelling, punctuation and capitalization changes on many different people's questions, especially in the main question. That's because it displays in different parts of the site. If you capitalize the first letter of the first word of your questions, and of proper names, I will be much less likely to mess with your question. The changes to punctuation are only if I believe it makes the meaning of the question more clear to the reader. But I swear I approach everyone's questions equally.

    posted 15 weeks ago

yeah, i know that sometimes, the Brits, Aussies, and Yanks spell their words differently. The example that always crops up for me is 'color'->yanks, and 'colour'->Brits. How do you spell color in Aussieland?

The reason I had to flag your voters vs. delegates market is because the question needed just a bit of editing so most Hubdubbers could more easily understand the question. I did not change the intent of the question, and that is what is really important. Once it gets edited and unsuspended, I plan to place some large wager on it.

    Good luck to you mate!

Hi Friend! Thank you for accepting my friendship invite. I have been watching your questions with interest for some time. It's not easy to write questions on hubdub; I gave up on them in February and admire anybody that can get questions past admins and superusers. Dinkem!

I hope you will take a minute to clarify your latest question for me. I want to put a good bet on your British recession question.

I'm afraid that I'm a bit DENSE tonight...(I know: it happens often)...

I can think of two possible meanings to this question: (1) Britain facing an increased recession risk - will the us federal reserve also say that BRITAIN is facing an increased recession risk OR (2) Britain facing an increased recession risk - will the us federal reserve say that the US is facing the same increased recession risk?

In other words: does "say the same" mean "say the same about the US" or "say the same about Britain"? Thanks for the clarification. Either way, it will be an interesting question!

I am not sure what you are trying to say. Let me say this so it might clear things up. I saw that you created markets for the AFL today, I went through each of those markets and determined that in EVERY case you had the team with the worse record favored to win the match. I therefore voided your markets. Just like last week when we had to void all your markets for bad starting odds and have you resubmit. But this week I decided it would be quicker and easier for everyone to just create the markets myself. I used each teams records as you will see posted on each question as a starting point for setting the odds.
I will ask you officially here to stop with the name calling, slurs, and threats.

I sent you a challenge for each of the markets so you could immediately wager on them, since you didn't have to wait the normal 12 hours for wagering when you create a market. I thought it was done to help you. Based on team records it is possible to get a really good idea of the odds for a game.
    sent 16 weeks ago
      33 destry[Admin]
I had to void all 9 of your markets for inaccurate starting odds. It was quicker and simplier to just recreate them myself with accurate starting odds, with clear suspend times, with the team name and record. You are more than welcome to create markets for round 21 next week, and you can use my questions as a template for creating yours.
I didn't understand your email or shout, so if you did apologize I accept and offer my apology for not responding sooner.

that's easy to answer although i signed in Jan/Feb i never started using it till late april. and being a sport nut and every day trying to predict mbl (which i knew nothing about) and indices ,i saw one on afl so i thought why not do some questions yourself on afl. at that stage i wondered what is the blank for and i put something in there which never came out. and Tisha told me how and i was going to, but you jumped the gun. i would never say copy or try to take over some one else's regulars. and i also think although we all speak English there sometimes is a lack of proper communication word wise just got up .and have to take the old girl to docs its now 7.30 am on Tuesday

I am curious why you never put any of that information in the questions you created. Most of your markets needed voided for being incoherent. I appreciate you providing clear information. Seems you are full of background now that they are markets not created by you. The goal of Hubdub is to create clear markets in which a wide user base can follow. No market created on Hubdub is the property of anyone but Hubdub. I simply attempted to create clear markets in which a wider user base could wager on them.

Your original question already has significant H$ wagered on it from other H$ users.

To void that original question now would be unfair to those users.

The Best Practice is such a situation is to send a flag to the Category Editor, requesting a correction, rather than creating a new question.

Creating a new question, creates, by necessity, a duplicate question, which means one or the other will have to be voided. Voiding questions on HD is not the remedy of choice.

I have suspended your newest question, and requested it be voided.

I have flagged your original question, (with existing H$ wagers) to have the day/date corrected.

Hi there. I suspended several of your questions today for incorrect formatting. When writing questions involving two sports teams it is best to phrase question in either of the following manners:
Will Team "X" beat Team "Y" on given date. Using Yes / No options.
Which team X or team Y will win on given date. Using options: Team X / Team Y.

hey, no, I thought they should not be attached to a body.

But, like you say, could be a bonus point whenever two feet wash up, and even the a body is attached to them.

    ;)

    Hi curios,
thanks for creating these football questions!

Sadly they seem to make some problems:
Try not to use yes/no options when asking which of two teams will win.
Please reflect the favorite team for winning the match in the odds, 50:50 is quite rare I guess.
