i don't know how else to do this, so heres a brief explanation. i ain't nic-picing, nor am i gonna flag every question i see as a potential problem. (only the ones i wager on) the minor problem is the suspend date. the potential bigger problem is "Republican pundits". if biden gave her flowers and treated her with the upmost respect there will be some Republican pundits who said he was sexist..especially if he wins the debate. plenty of time before the debate for somebody to review this. if i was wagering i would flag first. you can use your own judgement.

biden has treated her fairly as far as i know. he's one of my favorites dems...don't think he'll be sexiest. he speaks his mind and gets in hot water for it from time to time. i like politicans who blow less smoke up your behind than the normal politican.

before betting on this i suggest you flag for clarifying statement. seen a couple of these be difficult to settle. for instance does attending a fund raiser count as "campaigning"?

i don't think the question was biased. the creator choose his background and went with it. if the question maker has to provide both sides then they'll be dozens of paragraphs to read before getting to the question. imho that wasn't needed on this question. requardless of the background looks like i lost money :(

@all HD's..palin is taking some heat for going home instead of doing the "traidtional" things a VP canidate does. i think bucking the system only helps her. talk about change...how about a person who don't let the media/polls tell her what to do. she's still just a "canidate"..hasn't won the VP yet. if the dems think going home to be with her son/family is a bad thing, then be quite and let it hurt her in the election. i don't think it will, but i could be wrong. jmho on the matter.

newswrang has a good way to get it done. it might cause 100 differnt questions to be created, but it would work. i think we all agree she'll have a press conference. that makes the starting odds not worth creating the question imho.

i lost money and have no problem with it being settled. i bet thinking suspend date was settlement date. as the admin said that wasn't "specifically" stated. hopefully in the future i'll read more carefully and the details will be more specific on when it will settle.

As an active Hubdub member it would be nice if you helped promote the direction Hubdub has decided to move..if HD has decided to make it harder for a user to have a clear view of how a question will settle then imho their going in the wrong direction. the comment section can be very useful in helping new members..especially on markets that have been clarifyed. as an admin it would greatly helpful if you didn't want so much control and was more open on how you decide things. i didn't hear you complaining on the gazzillon post made by lucidstates when people was protesting sakayti. oh wait you was in favor of that so it wasn't clogging up the comments. you can continue to do as you see fit, and i'll do the same.

@baybear..all good points. she choose to accept the vp so she had to know it would come out. i doubt mccain forced her to accept. i'm not gonna pass judgement on her on how she raises her family. its not like teen pregancy is a rare occurence. don't know if you have kids, but most parents support their children no matter what they do. i would think a mother would know her daughter is pregant, especially since the press in alaska knew. anything is possible i reckon.

i've noticed this morning 2 admins has added in the comments they clarifyed their markets. seems like the extra work doesn't bother them. you can run the political cat as you see fit. i'll encourage users to post their replys (political cat) they get in the comment section. all will be happy then, don't ya think?

i don't know how rottentomato's works, but seems ok to me since it's suspended on friday and settled on monday. i guess if the question gains in popularity we'll see how often the rating on friday (if there is one) compares to the one on monday. thanks for adding the comment that there is a Clarification.

the cat editor will attempt to email...as seen here that doesn't always work. i have no problem with the bold print for those that don't seem to observe things well..the problem is..AFTER A WAGER IS MADE AND THE QUESTION GETS CHANGED THE PERSON WHO MADE THE WAGER BEFORE THE CHANGE DOESN'T KNOW IT GOT CHANGED! if its added to the comments the chances of it being seen is INCREASED. if their flag isn't answered then other users posting the ones they got could be very helpful..and its no extra work for the admin. it will also allow the users to see that things are being dealt with consistently! no "subjective analysis" if ya will. i've noticed all admins but you will add clarification's in the comments. your free not to. since you choose not to i think the users should feel free to add them if they wanna.

@all HD'rs...i got a suggestion. since the admin doesn't want to add his clarifactions (as erik said it would've taken less typing for you to answer the question) to the comment section. if you flag a question and get a response copy and paste it in the comment section. randburg says he got no response and i noticed the other day newswrangler said he hadn't got one in over 24hrs. it's cyber space so maybe their response's got lost. to avoid this problem just post the response you get in the comments. sound good to you all? this is NOT mandatory for user's...strictly voluntary. this way if a user flags and for whatever reason doesn't get the response they have a chance of gettin their question answered. i'm open to other suggestions as to how to put this to rest. i noticed the other day the admin told somebody...read the COMMENTS above they cleary state how this will settle. one day its read the comments, the next day its don't. see what i mean by being inconsistent. imho a user (after they made a wager and moved on) has a better chance of seeing a clarifaction in the comments. i don't usually go back and re-read a question after i bet on it. if it gets clarifyed-changed how am i pose to know?

@congos..again not doubting your wisdom of the rules. you being a SU have more "inside info" than i do. the death pool debate was going on when i joined. i'm not aware of any rule that says an admin has to approve them. did i miss it when reading the rules page? is it an unwritten rule? just trying to clarify so all HD'rs know what the "offical" rule is.

@congos..you have more info than me on this new 1 hr rule. the other markets (most of them) are still suspending 15 minutes before closing. i checked the rules page and it still says 15 minutes before close. is this new rule just not fully implamented yet?

when i sent the settlement link wasn't sure how this would work. i don't know if both athletes will be released on the same day,(one on east coast, other on west coast) or if they use one for awhile then the other. i can see both sides of the issue. some could say faster or farther would apply to the decathlon. others could say "None of these clearly describe winning sport". i have a whopping $90 in the market and will go with whatever gets decided. goodluck betters and admin.

(thats double the work) so after you wager to be safe i recommend you re-read the settlement details daily to see if theres been a change. so far this only applies the the polictal section (the other admins don't see it as double the work) so make sure you spend all your time re-reading questions you wagered on in the polictal cat. have a nice day.

ditto at what newswrang said. when i first read the question i ask is suspend time also settlement time? laaleelaalee you responed yes #3. then i see chet ask why this ain't settled. so i come to read the settlent link and the question settlement time has been changed, and as randburg said (#8) somebody bet heavy on first option. that raises a red flag in my mind. so i left #6 for the admin. i see he hasn't spoke. when an admin changes the question or the settlement details its only fair to let people who bet before the changes have the option to have their bets voided. the admin should also make it knowin in the comments that the question has been changed.

i don't know how the mistake site works. from reading the comments lets see if i have it right. a person can log into mm.com and post-report mistakes in a movie..correct? do they automatically get added to the total? is there some review process from mm.com before adding them? i would hope so. if not then theres difnently a possible problem. if there screened before actually being added to the total then not much HD could do. i guess move the suspend time.

first thanks to jenni for making the question regularly. even repeat questions takes an extra effort. i take polls with a grain of salt. the only one that really matters is the election day poll. my theory (i'm a right leaning person) they got the poll close-tied so after the DNC obama would look like he got a big bounce. i agree with buckey...obama should have a much larger lead now, not make any major blunders, be postive, and walk away with this election. for whatever reason that ain't the deal. he still has to get through the debates. i ain't saying he's lost or the election is over..just that obama might be letting it slip away. just one member of the vast right wing conspiracy's humble opinon.

i don't understand the question-problem with the suspend times..ie their to many to follow. lets say theres a 100 inplay questions that ALL suspend 10 minutes before dow closes. nobody has to play all 100 questions. if a user makes so many bets he/she can't keep track of them thats their fault. they already have an advantage, now you wanna increase it? if you spread the suspend time's out that makes it easiar to take advantage of the whole deal. you play the early suspend times, then move to the later ones. thats making it easiar for a small % of HD'rs to have an advantage over the majority of HD'rs who don't-can't take advantage of it. would it be fair to have an inplay question that ran from 1 am EST to 3 am EST? there would be a select few who could play it, just like the stock market questions. imho it comes down to giving ALL HD'rs a level playing field. they way things are now thats not the deal.

@NW...i'm sure things will get handled as fair as possible. obama might hit "send" on the email, then make the annoucement 20 seconds later. i wasn't to concrened bout it..was being more ornery than raising a concern. now that destry is signed up to get the email-text message it should be settled pretty quick.

all questions that suspend before an event starts are "lottery" questions. this is a prediction site, not a how fast can you click your mouse site. the ONLY regular-daily "in play" questions are stock market questions. ask the admin how many people play them? is it fair to the HD community as a whole? i would say no. as far as inplay sport questions (twice a year) if you make bets on all of them, thats on the person making the bets. nobody is forced to bet on 8 questions at once. theres 8 differnt stock market questions every day and people play the ones they like...leave the others alone. you say you created the question because..."para-phrasing here" basically people got bored when the other dow questions wasn't in doubt. thats really funny..no offense. lets say i'm a sports better. i bet on the sport questions i like...now i'm bored. i got an idea i'll create another sports question thats "inplay" so i don't get bored waiting on the outcome of the football game thats already decided. does that make any sense to you? its not so much the amount somebody that can bet in the last few minutes (i agree reducing that amount is worth looking into) ITS THE SUSPEND TIME being so close to the end of the event. i'll repeat...IS HAVING THE STOCK MARKET ONLY...a daily inplay fair to the HD community as a whole? instead of addressing that issue (infernal) your trying to move the suspend time on this question to make it more of an inplay question. have a nice day.

at one hour before suspending how much was the dow down is the question you should be asking. bayou you had a question that suspended i think mid-day. it got a little over $3k wagered....whats that tell you? try setting suspend times one hour before dow closes for the whole week and see how that changes things. i'll bet you real money the winning %'s go down. then treat them as all other questions (suspend before event starts) and i'll bet you all of newswrangler's money the winning % goes down either further. this ain't rocket science. closer the suspend time is to the end of the event the higher the winning % will be. the simple up or down should suspend way earliar than 15 minutes imho. the ones you and others create where you gotta pick the range (11,400 to 11,500) how often are they in the high 90's? i'd bet not very often..ie the days the dow moves very little. i'm tired of beating a dead horse. the questions are made and played within the rules. if HD thinks its fair to do it this way then more power to those who can take advantage of it. @bayobear..destry has created such markets. they receive very little action as compared to the ones with 1, 5, 15 minute closing times. if the dow uestions suspended 1 hour before opening, they would have same % of win loss as sport questions, if not lower. i would say its easiar to pick who will win tean X or team Y than it is to predict the dow. jmho.

@markc..as i read it its quite clear "Please note that this question refers only to a Presidential candidate requesting a recount. Any recount brought on by some automatic process (e.g. a small margin of victory) or requested by a third party will not count.

@destry..i agree questions get nic-piked to death, and makes creating questions more intimadating. to use you least favorite term "spitzer" comes to mind. the problem is really bad for long term questions. i would say you done a fine job in clarifying has this will settle. this is a short term question and still raised concerns. can you imagine if every (non sport or dow) question was required to have this much clarity? UGH! i don't have a solution to the problem. i recently posted a question then flagged it ASAP so the admin could state how it would settle if a problem arose. its fake money on a free site, hopefully people will keep that in mind. don't misunderstand me i agree some questions need clarifying. i would rather see it worked out up front than when it comes time to settle. stay safe.

people can get carried away at times nic-picing questions to death, especially longer term markets. i understand it to a degree...sometimes it way overboard in my opinon. i don't like long term markets for that reason, and things change from the time the question was made. i made 2 long term questions tonight and hope they don't cause any trouble. your saying why make them if ya don't like them? well i haven't read any news that i could make a short term question, and i'm gonna try to create more questions. i hope to be able to make some shorter questions as i come across them. i usually run a question by an amin before posting them. well i didn't tonight so i hope their ok. goodluck and have a nice day.

@hub-bob..this is currently under consideration. i commend the higher up's of HD for moving the suspend times. it went from 100% correct to the high 90's since the 15 minute rule went into affect. its my understanding theres a "message board" coming soon. after it's implamented maybe more users will voice their opinon's on the dow questions. it's a cash cow for those who can be at their puters at 3 pm EST. my humble opinon is dow otta suspend like all other questions. they can make them "in play" on special occasions like sport questions. i could be in the minortiy in my view. guess we shall see down the road. have a nice day.
