Yes God made gay people, but He did not make them gay. All humans have free will, which is the right and ability to sin and the freedom to choose good instead. The constitution of the USA does not specifically protect the right of gay marriage, nor does it prohibit the banning of said right. I say that the smoking is ban is unconstitutional becuase I feel that it does not hold with the overall tone of the document, which is to allow as much freedom as possible, making laws only to prohibit actions that will harm others. As I already demonstrated, becuase all Christians that vote to allow gay marriage are equally guilty it hurts them as well. I won't even bother going into the psychological effects of two same sex parents on any adopted or foster children, but feel free to ask any psychologist in the world if the healthiest environment for the growth of a child isn't with one male and one female parent.

C2R, is is a "civil right" for me to marry more than one woman? The supreme court said no, and very few people complain about that anymore. The standard Christian view of Gay marriage is that all homosexual relation are sinful, and it is also sinful to allow people to sin.

Let me explain further: America is a democracy and as such the people make the rules. Therefore a Christian who strongly believes in his religion will vote that homosexual marriage should not be allowed. This is becuase by allowing this "civil right" you are condoning their actions, or in other words assuming equal responsibility in their sin.

Also, i do hope you don't hold my religious beliefs to be on par with the racism of a few sad individuals. there beliefs are founded only on hatred and are not found in the bible or preached in any legit church. As for prop 8's margin of passing, there are several explanations for this. First is that California seems to have less than the average number of religious people, and second is I think a lot of people that go to church traditionally tend to claim they are Christian when it comes time for a census, but actually don't strongly believe anything.

As for the last set of comments: I understand that at one time laws against discrimination were once needed, but feel are they anachronism's today. Right now, a business owner should be able to higher the most qualified person who applies for the job and if they are too stupid to higher a more qualified person based on their race or ethnicity, it's his or her loss. also, you have made the assumption that I support the smoking bans when in fact I believe they are unconstitutional, and even if they weren't i don't think smoking in moderation is a sin (such as a cigar every now and then). god did make tobacco after all, and it's health effects are minimal unless it is used in fairly large amounts. As for moving to Canada, it's a nearby country with basically the same economy, technology, health care, language, but with far more liberal politics. I merely suggest that if America is so terrible to live in it should be easy to move to Canada, rather than try to change an entire other nation to fit your viewpoint. It's hardly the same as me going to Italy, especially since I'm not Catholic but Christian, and yes I consider that to be a real distinction!

I would also like to note that I find this discussion very refreshing, I fully expected my comment would be flamed instantly and I never intended to return to see it. imagine my surprise when a lucid, reasonable response shows up in my email!

Here's the problem with arguing that America is not and was not a Christian nation... While it was made free for all people to choose their own religion and worship with out fear over 70% of American's today remain Christian, and this is at a time where just about every year some new study declares we are less religious than ever before. So a Christian Nation Theocracy? No. A nation of Christian people? Yes, both then and now. Don't expect religious Christian people to condone gay marriage, there are plenty of nations where people just don't care and if gays need to marry that badly Canada is right there.

well the controversy can help get a game noticed, but between the huge cost of actually making the game, then defending the frivolous lawsuits, plus all the extra they have to spend on PR and advertising, and with the game being closed off from several of the smaller markets.. well it adds up. Plus its one of the types of games that sees 99% of it's sales in the first 3 weeks, and then nothing, so if it gets hurt at the start somehow people usually don't go and pick it up.

Of course i guess the threat of it getting banned would only help the release since everyone wants it before that happens, lol.

If favre gets traded to the bucks, which looks likely now, they would probably release jeff garcia, and he may very well end up starting for another team... possibly the bears.

i hope so. In America, the largest cause of car accidents is people running red lights. When cameras are put up on the traffic lights to automatically send tickets to people who run lights, they stopped running the lights at these particular intersections.

However, lately many towns have stopped using the camera's, because of the loss in revenue from not getting the tickets they used to get. So that story is basically garbage, the cameras are always intended to make money and safety is why we are supposed to put up with them.

the bears and probably a few other good teams sometimes intentionally throw a preseason game. The coaches set up a terrible gameplan and get crushed to leave the sour taste of losing in the players mouths, usually in week three. Then in week four they go with the starters, crush the other team, and ride the momentum and work ethic into the regular season.

So yeah losing in the preseason doesn't mean anything, it's probably a bad sign if you do go undefeated since it means theres a good chance you didn't let the lower string players have enough time to play.

After reading these comments it doesn't seem likely to me. not enough experience with rules and making waves with long time users isn't helping much.

hm, Mempile is interesting but I don't think we'll ever see it really work. There are several things working against it:

1. It's behind the curve. They expect to have a 1 TB disc two years from now. I expect to have a 4 TB HD by then.
2. It's still a new disc with a new drive. This isn't cost effective verse buying a new HD.
3. The write speed is that of a DVD. That means it would take probably a week to write a TB, maybe more. Compare that to a SATA HD....
4. HD's are getting super cheap now.

So combine these 4 things and you have a more expensive, lower performance option that holds less. The only viable commercial application seems to be archiving, which would be useful becuase you can't have the backup on or near the machine.

i love that comic, very nice. As for the bluray, I think it's the last serious format ever, before everything goes digital and subscriber based. That said, as you noted some people still mess around with VHS. My parents balk at the idea of watching their shows on the internet (for free) instead of paying almost 80 bucks a month for the 3 or 4 shows they actually watch. For my parents and grandparents paying for something means getting a physical copy of it, period, and to some extent I feel the same way. But I think I can get over not owning a physical copy of it so long as the downloads have options like commentary for stuff when I want it, and the company I'm receiving it from promises that I will always be able to get it, none of this itunes you own three files of it nonsense.

Plus, there will always be the collectible version with the pretty box. Some things never change.

The fact is that once someone goes to jail for a minor drug related offense instead of going inot rehab they are exposed to cheaper, more concentrated forms of the drug and upon release are about 3 times as likely to return to prison on a new drug offense than someone who hasn't been to prison. No other country on the face of the earth imprisons as many people as we do, and we are now spending almost dollar for dollar on prisons and education. Almost all of the new funding for prisons comes straight from the educational system, and if the old trends continued it wouldn't be long before schools get half the funding of prisons in some states.

He seems to miss the part about denying the history of what happened being far more offensive than a wax figure. It seems there are no rules regarding international or worldwide movie questions. I think if the area is not specified it would make more sense to include all areas, seeing as this is an international website (i thought it was at least) and limit it only to one area when specifically requested by the question creator. The reason this works better, as opposed to the current setup which is the opposite, is becuase a new user (or anyone who hasn't studied the rules with a magnifying glass) could reasonably assume their is no restriction not stated by the question creator, such as limiting sales to one area only.

markov, have you ever had a job? I only ask becuase you say it's voluntary to work in an environment that is not smoke free.... I don't support general bans in public but I am much happier not being hit with smoke every time i go to a restaurant or school (I still walk through a cloud of smoke to go into the building though, my school is not compliant with the law that people not smoke within a certain distance of the door).

Smoking isn't just an annoyance Markov, it kills people. I for one have asthma, and as such could be killed with one breath of second hand smoke (especially now that my fast acting inhaler is off the market becuase apparently it furthered global warming).

Even with the threat to my life noted though, I agree the ban is too strict. Let bars and such have smoking if they want, people don't need bars. Restaurants and other business's could have a choice, but at work and school where I have to be, people have to put it out.

Well Cognos I see a lot of Democrats like you these days, even though I live in Obama's home state of IL where he won the senate with 80%+ of the popular vote.

The problem with Obama is his lack of experience, he hasn't been around once yet but he thinks that as president he can just make all these decisions and have them work, even though they haven't worked in the past. He really jumped the gun on running for president, because he would have been far more electable 8 years down the road in a party mostly undamaged after a few RDC wins, but here we are.

Even though I predict more dems voting for McCain then Reps voting for Obama, and McCain winning the election, I really do hope I'm wrong about Obama just in case he does win, becuase if he's half as naive as he sounds America will be half the nation it is now when he's had 4 years of diplomatic mistakes under his belt.

There is a big difference becuase Big Brown is simply his owner saying that he will race but Tiger Woods is actually injured, and going in for surgery. The two situations are not actually comparable once you go below the surface.

just checked the list again. All five HP movies before this one are on the list, the lowest being 21. The first movie is the highest, but the last two movies released have showed improvement with the more recent doing better, and falling at 6 just a tiny bit short of PoC. In my opinion that shows HP 6 making top 3 at least.

yeah but click was a major disappointment becuase every thought it was going to be a comedy. The commercial was like the one for Hancock, where the comic relief moments are shown as being representative of the movie when they aren't.

The thing is, I have no loyalty to them anyways. I love Firefox 2, I really do, especially since I run it off my flash drive and take my add-ons and bookmarks with me to every computer in the school. But if someone else makes a better browser I'm using it, it's that simple, so I'm not going to help FF get a huge market share out of the gate. If the product is as good as we expect they will get it anyways, and if not a new and better browser wont have to work so hard to gain the support it deserves.

yeah i think Hancock is maybe an action drama with some elements of comic relief (?), just goes to show how important it is too have a good advertising campaign, we all know who the star is and sort of what its about but we have no idea what genre it's even trying to be... If it's really a drama its going to make less than it should becuase every joke in the movie is already run in the trailor and people will be disappointed when they came to laugh and didn't.

hey sdchargers! I remember playing duke nuke 'em when i was a kid, and it wasn't nearly as good as wolfenstein... this game has been in production forever and i would put my money on the as yet unannounced (I think) Doom 4.

oh, plus Will smith is in everything these days. I know I'm sick of him...

the karate panda thing is a kids movie though, people wont take their kids to see a drunken will smith pretend he's a hero (at least I hope not).

I've got 200 on every other option becuase i just don't see it with this movie. I think it will be good, but not great, and not every movie that releases this summer is going to hit 100kk.

Adventure as a lead, stole the Hulk from Action, and gets a new HP movie and a Star Wars re-release. So my moneys on Adventure big time, since comedy seems to have few releases and action is way behind.

a release date is a release date, that is the day a game will be shipped. This is not, however, a street date. That means if a game is released monday then it ships monday and hits stores tuesday. When I go to a gaming store they tell me that the street date is the following day and act like im stupid for coming to the store on the advertised release date, instead of the industry being stupid for not being able to have a game in stores when they said it will be "released".

As for they guy who wrote this question, don't be smug jerk. If you were an expert you would know there is 0% chance of this game actually hitting stores this year. It's been in development since before i could read, and doesn't even have a projected release date yet. When a date if finally announced it will be for next year most likely, and theres still the likely hood that it will be pushed back more than once. We're still not going to see this game anytime soon.

well it's true that gun free zones are only gun free for victims, but just becuase people buy guns doesn't mean we can take them to university with us. We need some legislation forcing the campuses that are against permit holders carrying guns in school to stop squashing their students right to self defense.
