I like the question about Dara Torres, because it is such a great story. However, I think the options should have been worded better by leaving the ONLY out, as it is already a huge accomplishment that she is even competing in the Olympics.
What in the world has your Obama comment to do with the No. 1 billboard hit? Are you thinking he is going to follow Rihanna's song an take a bow?
Yes, I see it as a weakness of the system that the settlement details are not displayed.

Actually, your QUESTION only reads "Was Betancourt’s freedom bought?" everything else was background information.

Just in case you wonder why Erik Zabel and Kim Kirchen are at 10% likelihood to win: In the case that Oscar Freire really drops out of the race, they can still take the lead, while all the other riders would need someone else to also drop out of the race. Still possible but not very likely, thats why that is only a 2% chance.
Thanks for the tip, I will do that.
Even if these Tour de France questions, seem like they are never being settled by the staff, I am going to continue creating them anyway. The tour is one of the major sports events in the summer after all.
I requested settlement since something with the timing went wrong. So probably all bets after 9:23 AM Pacific time will be disregarded.
How is this supposed to evaluated?
What a day! I just lost $4.5K on all my index bets.
Good point, I never thought of that. I will make a change when I post this again.
I have also flagged it for review. So hopefully someone is waking up and doing something.
I would say, it pays to actually read the news: "Utah, Ariz. Prosecutors Vow Not to Raid Polygamists" http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90309590
I think it would be more entertaining if you leave the question open up until the time of close. Especially were there is often so much activity right at the end.
For some reason they don't allow 0 as a possible answer, so I opted for O.
Its a little bit more sophisticated then the lottery. Since the NASDAQ recently trades between 2100 - 2400 the question has a lot to do were you think the market is going to close for the day based upon economic news.
infernalmachine, you inspired me, but since I don't want to intrude on your territory I am doing it for the NASDAQ not the DOW.
That is also why (at least at current trading levels) from left to right the tens column is the 3rd digit. Maybe in the future I will go with the 4th digit from right to left to avoid any problems. Especially when I DID screw up on Friday's question.
I actually meant the 3rd digit, which is still the tens column.
Did you mean 'crane safety'?
By definition, "a recession is a decline in a country's gross domestic product (GDP), or negative real economic growth, for two or more successive quarters of a year." Since according to the latest numbers from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) the GDP actually increased by 0.6 %, there is no way that by the end of Q1 2008 we can be in an official economic recession.
Therefore the real question is if Bush can "admit" something that is not true, like I stated in my last comment.
I also have a problem with the term "admit" because by definition it means to "to allow or concede as valid", what however, if he says that we are in a recession but the actual data only shows an economic downturn? Can he "admit" something that is actually not valid?
I also understood the question to be when he announces his resignation, not when it becomes active. Stuff like that should be clarified before hand.
Sorry, I was thinking European date, I meant March, 12 2008.
Is this accumulative for the day, the month, the year or the season (winter)?
