But Batman is still #1 and topped $76 mill!!!
Okay so The Dark Knight has crosses $222,150,806 IN JUST 6 DAYS!!! ... I am going to go see this film with some 7 other friends from Mars Hill Church in Seattle (Mark Driscoll, NOT Rob "Heretic" Bell, LOL) and we cannot get in Friday either! Mannnn, IMAX is sold out till next Monday, and so we are scrambling for Mondays tickets, LOL ... THIS FILM IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!! ... P.S. Obama sucketh!! LOL ... That guy is a snake and he is very dangerous for our nation ...... No wait, can puppets be any more dangerous then say a Tickle Me Elmo? Hmmmmmmm, the mind ponders!?!?! I guess Obama or any other politician is good for something.............. I just can't figure what just yet :-P ... All politicians suck :-D
Don't forget about mid week numbers... It is going to do about $2.7 million per day mid week, so this will mean it only needs to make $13.5 million this weekend to top $215 million.
My friends and I are going to try and see this film in IMAX and guess what? It was SOLD OUT 2 weeks in advance AND we cannot get into the theater until MONDAY next week it looks like! They are suggesting a 1-2 week advance purchase for IMAX tickets here in Seattle. This film is freakin' gigantic!!!
Hahaha, CONGRATS scott :-D YOU DA MAN! I lost a few hundred on this one! MAN was I frikkin' wrong!! :-P
WOW!!! BIGGEST SINGLE DAY GROOS IN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$66.4 MILLION for Friday ALONE!!!
This film should become the Highest Ever Grossing film in an opening weekend!!!
$66.4 MILLION for Friday ALONE!!!
This film should become the Highest Ever Grossing film in an opening weekend!!!
Forget it!! I took a bath on this and lost about a grand! Man, The Dark Knight is opening on a whopping 4,366 screens!!! That freakin' HUGE!!! This film is opening on 261 MORE screens then Iron Man opened on, 106 MORE screens then INDIANA JONES 4 opened on and 401 MORE screens then Hancock opened on!!!
I think the $130 - $150 mill for the weekend is totally doable!!!
I think the $130 - $150 mill for the weekend is totally doable!!!
Official numbers are in and here is where these 3 films stand:
#1 ... $174,596,940 ... Hancock ... 15 days in release
#2 ... $170,460,403 ... Wall-E ...... 20 days in release
#3 ... $117,018,600 ... Wanted ..... 20 days in release
I think Hancock is clearly going to win this one now :-D But it should still be within $10 or less...

Well, I bet $100 and it pays $2,300+, so I hope expectations ARE too high, I wanna make some mula :-D
Wall-E did $18.8 million last weekend and Space Chimps is likely going to draw about $8.641 million, therefore, Wall-E would have to drop a whopping 54% and it'd still make $8.648 million, beating the chimps by $70k ... However, Wall-E has had these drop offs each weekend thus far: Week two -48.47% ... Week three -42.19% ... So according to this trend, it'll likely only drop around 40% this weekend, but take into account HUGE numbers from Batman, and let's say Wall-E loses a hefty 50% of it's crowd, it'd still bring in $9.4 million, easily beating the chimps.
My money is on Wall-E :-D
My money is on Wall-E :-D
What crap! This world is already perverse enough, now this B**** is playing to older men and even teens, with trying to kiss a minor of the same sex on a Kids award show? I am absolutely disgusted and saddened by the level of depravity we are so quickly sinking into! I mean come on!! No one sees the outrageousness of this?!! How about Eminem jump onstage and make out with some 15 year old rap star boy?! Now you say, eew gross, well why not think the same thing of Miley? How appauling really! It just goes to show the level of perversity in American culture today, that even the idea of this is making headlines. Sick twisted sinful world, and I am utterly guilty as well, it is just so shameful!
$420 says COWBOYS versus Colts or Pats or anyone western :-D
Meaning, I bet Western team versus SOLO team :-D
Meaning, I bet Western team versus SOLO team :-D
I vote for this being the BEST QUESTION of July 2008!!! Superbly well done Val! Hip Hip Hurray for your brain :-D
GOOOOOO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And any punk who dares come up against us in Tampa!!!!! :-P

Israel's Olmert charged with defrauding charities
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has come under renewed intense pressure step down this week amid allegations that he defrauded a number of national charities during his time as mayor of Jerusalem and minister of industry and trade.
According to a police statement released at the weekend, evidence suggests that over the course of many years Olmert asked several different charities to fund each of his trips abroad on state business. The money from only one charity was needed to pay for each trip, while the money from the others was deposited into a special bank account that the Olmert family used to finance personal vacations.
Aiding Olmert in the scam was Israeli tourism operator Rishon Tours. Police raided the offices of Rishon Tours last week and confiscated documents and computer hard drives that investigators indicated contain damning evidence backing up the severe charges.
Dubbed "Olmertours," the latest scandal will be lumped together with another ongoing investigation into allegations that Olmert received bribes from an American Jewish businessman over the course of about 15 years. Police said evidence supporting that case is mounting fast, and that an indictment is likely to be filed against Olmert in late August.
But for most Israelis, late August is not soon enough, and Israeli Attorney-General Menachem Mazuz is under growing pressure to declare Olmert incapacitated.
At a press conference in Jerusalem on Sunday, Mazuz said that he agreed with the notion that a prime minister who has lost the public's trust can no longer make and implement difficult decisions, but insisted that it is not his role to dismiss or appoint the nation's leaders.
While Mazuz was meeting with reporters, Olmert set out to prove him wrong by announcing at a Mediterranean summit in Paris that he was bringing Israel closer than ever to a final status peace agreement with the Palestinians and direct peace negotiations with Syria.
Following talks with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Olmert said he had agreed to release hundreds more jailed Palestinian terrorists as a goodwill gesture and to accelerate efforts to reach a final status peace deal that will result in the creation of a Palestinian Arab state on the biblical Jewish lands of Judea and Samaria.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni continued her public assault on Olmert, certain of the prime minister's imminent downfall and her chances of replacing him.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, where she is accompanying Olmert at the summit of Mediterranean nations, Livni stated that she had already formed a very negative opinion of the prime minister long before the latest scandal broke.
Livni rejected accusations by Olmert's office that police are conducting witch hunt and treating the prime minister too aggressively in the Israeli press.
Police officials have noted that Olmert is in fact receiving privileged treatment, as he sets the date and duration of every interview with investigators. They also noted that anyone but the prime minister would have already been arrested on such serious charges.

GREAT question.... I bet NO but I think maybe they'll have a special recognition area for the user themselves with wealth above $1m but I am totally guessing and that's not what this Q asks, so yeah... On this Q I bet NO :-D
I can't apply cause I rant sometimes and I use odd characters or abbreviations and random BOLD lettering ... LOL :-P

Bush gives Israel tentative 'OK' to strike Iran
US President George W. Bush has given Israel the go-ahead to draw up a full plan of attack to take out Iran's main nuclear facilities and to present it to him for final approval, according to a senior Pentagon official who spokes to London's Sunday Times.
The official said the president had given Israel an "amber light," explaining that "amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you're ready."
Israeli officials who had previously admitted to preparing for a possible strike on Iran's nuclear facilities said that such an attack would be impossible without a green light from Washington, as Israeli planes would need to travel through US-controlled Iraqi airspace. Israel would also need America's assistance in dealing with the diplomatic aftermath.
The Pentagon source said that the Bush Administration had already determined not to attack Iran, but noted that "the president is really preoccupied with the nuclear threat against Israel and I know he doesn't believe that anything but force will deter Iran."
Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak is scheduled to travel to the US on Monday where he will meet with various Pentagon officials to discuss how best to handle the Iran threat.
An aide to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Saturday that if an attack is launched on his country's nuclear facilities, Iran will "destroy" Israel and 32 American military bases across the Middle East.
"If Israel and the US fire a bullet or a missile at Iran, its forces will attack the heart of Israel and 32 American bases in the region before the dust from such an attack has settled," Mojtaba Zolnour, Khameini's deputy representative in the Revolutionary Guards, told Iran's Fars news agency.
Iran last week held what it called a major test of its improved medium-range missile arsenal, indicating that it possessed the means to launch a substantial counter-strike against Israel.
However, Israeli and Western analysts who examined the missile test photographs so proudly distributed by Iran noted that they had been doctored. The Israelis further noted that the missiles in the photos appeared to be Iran's older Shihab-3 missiles, which are not capable of hitting Israel. The affair called into question Iran's ability to actually retaliate against Israel in the event of an aerial assault on its nuclear facilities.

Well, since it is 1,000,000% obvious that Apple will NOT allow any other carriers in the US to carry the iPhone since they are in a multi year contract with AT&T, then I am betting BIG on NO because it pays really well and is a GUARANTEED MONEY MAKER!!! WOOT :-D
Thanks for the clarification Nigel and Destry! I am gonna make a killing :-D
Thanks for the clarification Nigel and Destry! I am gonna make a killing :-D
Btw, Indy 4 now stands just slightly behind the first Narnia film at #28 on the all time worldwide list with $743.371 million and needs another $200 million to make it to the #2 spot!! Ain't gonna happen with Indy 4.
Thanks Tisha :-D
When I said Indy would not break $300 million, I was talking about North American Box Office returns, however, I was still WRONG! LOL ... Indy stand at like $308.224 million, so I was way wrong, but it will still not even get close to the Top 5 All Time! Now will The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Wall-E, any of these, and I think the next HP will get into say the Top 10, but certainly not the Top 5.

WOW ... This is gonna be a CLOSE one people!!!
The estimates for the weekend show it at $35.884 million, but when final numbers come out tomorrow, it could be as low as around $33.5 million or as high as $37 million ... So we'll wait and see when Final Numbers come out tomorrow afternoon/evening, and then the Q will be settled, MAN this is close :-D

Okay, HANCOCK did $33 million!!!!!!! I am surprised but Hancock has held incredibly well on the weekend, even though its midweek numbers were declining fast, this thing is a weekend treat and it did 120% more than $15 million :-D
I've requested settlement as this number is so big that no adjustment is going to bring it down $18 million.
WOW, $102,406 bet on this Q!! GREAT job creating this one "elfis" I loved it :-D

PLEASE do not settle this question UNTIL final numbers are out.
I bet big on YES, so I'd win if the current numbers hold, however, with less than $2.5 million separating these two films, things could change, so please just wait until final numbers tomorrow afternoon and then settle. I simply ask this for the fairness of the bettors who bet NO, though I think these numbers will hold.
GREAT question "skins" I thoroughly enjoyed it :-D

Israeli warplanes taking up position in Iraq?
Iraqi Defense Ministry officials told local media on Friday that Israeli warplanes operating out of a US airbase are conducting exercises in their country for a possible strike on neighboring Iran.
According to the sources, the Israeli planes enter Iraq via Jordanian airspace during the night, and then land at a US military base near the Iraqi city of Hadita.
If Israel ultimately decides to launch a aerial strike against Iran's main uranium enrichment facility, taking off from Hadita would cut the flight time to the target down to about five minutes.
Israeli media was unable to verify the Iraqi report, but Israeli officials have admitted in recent weeks to conducting military maneuvers in preparation for a possible strike on Iran, including a major air force exercise over Greece last month.
In response to the Israeli maneuvers, and a parallel US military exercise also believed to in preparation for conflict with Iran, the Islamic Republic this week launched it own massive training exercise. The Iranian maneuvers consisted primarily of testing its long-range ballistic missiles, which Tehran has threatened to unleash against Israel's population centers if a strike is launched against its nuclear facilities.
Israeli defense experts later called Iran's bluff, explaining that based on the photos Iran so proudly distributed to the international media, it was fairly clear that the Islamic Republic is in fact not in possession of a large arsenal of weapons that can reach the Jewish state.
Iran claimed that it had tested a new version of its Shihab-3 missile with an improved range capable of hitting any target in Israel. But the Israelis said the missiles shown in the photos are the old version of the Shihab-3, which has a maximum range just short of the Jewish state.
Furthermore, the older Shihab-3 missiles use a liquid fuel, making them far easier to detect and destroy prior to launch.
In another apparent sign that the situation could be set to escalate significantly, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak is scheduled to fly to the US on Monday for a series of meetings at the Pentagon. Barak's visit comes hot on the heels of a Mossad chief Meir Dagan's trip to Washington earlier this week.

FOX Sports News: Bonds' agent: 'I am not talking to any club'
Updated: July 10, 2008, 6:25 PM EST
The Arizona Diamondbacks became the latest team to say "No thanks" to Barry Bonds, and they're not alone.
Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, told USA Today that at this point, no MLB team has interest in adding the home run king to its roster.
"I am not talking to any club about Barry Bonds because they all made it very clear to me they are not interested in him. Every club," Borris told USA Today.
The D-backs were the latest to discuss the possibility of signing Bonds, but USA Today says club President Derrick Hall and general manager Josh Byrnes have decided against the idea.
When asked earlier this week, Byrnes admitted he was thinking about adding Bonds to the Diamondbacks' organization.
"He and maybe a couple of others are sort of sitting out there," Byrnes said.
Borris said Bonds continues to work out and would only need 10 days of taking live pitches to be ready to play if a team is willing to sign him.
"I can't believe he doesn't have a job," Borris said, according to USA Today. "No one has offered even the minimum salary. He made the All-Star team last year, and there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have a repeat performance in 2008, except for the conspiracy against him."
Bonds has an all-time record 762 home runs in a career that has spanned 22 seasons.

Other then that, I LOOOOOVE this question and AM betting allot on it as I think the odds of the overlap being an issue are minimal and I think Iran is totally gonna be attacked by Israel and or the US by years end!!!
They are predicting that iPhone 3G will sell 1,000,000 aka One Million units this weekend alone! This would mean that total iPhone sales will have topped 7 million units and we still have 6 months to go :-D
AWESOME question ... I got some math for you guys:
We now have 8,246 registered users, therefore, according to current top prediction "100-199" the majority of people are saying that a mere 1.2% - 2.4% of ALL users will log onto this site within the 24 hour period of July 14th. That to me is crazy. Only 1 to 2 out of every 100 users? I think this is wayyyyy low. But I could be dead wrong! I'm willing to bet, and will :-P That it's closer to 5%+ of users, which would translate into 412 users at a flat 5%. But if say Israel or the US attacks Iran, we'll get way over 600, or say Oil tops $150/barrel, or the stock market falls 300 points, or Britney Spears dies in a car accident, again, I think many more will come, but that is pure guess work, but mathematically speaking, I am confident 5% of users will sign on sometime within 24 hours of next Monday :-D

Olmert maneuvers to remain prime minister
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Wednesday agreed to a deal whereby the winner of an upcoming primary election in his Kadima Party will immediately replace him as prime minister, but with one big "if."
Senior Kadima sources confirmed the deal to Israel's Channel 1 News after a lengthy meeting between Olmert and the four Kadima leadership candidates - Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Transportation Minister Shaul Mofaz, Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter and Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit.
However, Olmert associates later told reporters that the beleaguered prime minister only agreed to the deal because it also contains a clause stating that if the winner of the Kadima primary is unable to form a new majority government, then Olmert is to remain head of the current government until the next national election.
The chances of Livni, Mofaz, Dichter or Sheetrit successfully forming a new majority government are considered small.
The Kadima primary is scheduled to take place in mid-September.

Jewish priests fitted for service in future Jerusalem Temple
Confident that Israel's Temple to the Almighty will be rebuilt atop Jerusalem's Temple Mount in the very near future, the Temple Institute this month began fitting Jews from the biblical priestly tribe for their holy garments.
The Bible describes a very specific set of garments to be warn by members of the priestly tribe when they are serving in the Temple. This month's fitting was the first time since the destruction of the Second Temple over 2,000 years ago that potential Jewish priests had been measured for such garments.
Following the fitting, each potential future priest was presented with a set of garments matching the biblical description. When the Temple is rebuilt, a fresh set of garments will need to be made for each priest, as they can only be used in the Temple.
The Temple Institute has for decades been involved in preparing the various garments, instruments and other items needed to dedicate what is known as the Third Temple. Most Jews and Christians believe the Third Temple will be built atop the Temple Mount - today occupied by Islamic mosques - prior the coming of Messiah and the establishment of his direct reign over the earth.

3 day US weekend... No way it'll top $100 million ... I see it opening anywhere from $80 - $88 million and HSX.com is predicting $75.5 million opening 3 day North American weekend.
With the iPhone 3G coming out next week, sooooo much going on at Apple, means there's no way they'll release a new iPod anything this month! ... Maybe next month or maybe in Aug.
Due to demand from such great friends as "scott", this question has been created to give Hellboy 2 it's own question ... I hope everyone enjoys :-D

Okay, so Hancock did $66 million Fri-Sun ... If anyone knows the mathematics of cinema, then you'll know that NO film does only 25% of its prior week Box Office unless either another ultra super mega film like The Dark Knight opens the following week OR it was the worst film of the year. Now looking at next weekend, Hancock has no megas super ultra killer film coming out against it, though some decent films for sure and it is NOT the worst film of the year. I see Hancock falling off about 58% - 60% next weekend, thus bringing in about $26.4 - $27.7 million, with an absolute MAX fall off of 65% week over week, this means that Hancock will still bring in $23.1 million next weekend, AND it if fell a WHOPPING 70%, it'd still bring in nearly $20 million bucks.
I'm betting thousands upon thousands that it will in no way make under $15 million ... In fact, I'm willing to bet ALL I got that that won't happen. But I cannot, as the market max's out and I'd make no money, therefore, anytime it drops, I add more and more :-D
Just letting everyone know ... When you see a sure thing on HubDub, jump on it :-D

WOW, so it is final ... According to estimates, which cannot change enough to alter the outcome of the winning prediction "$76 million or More..." Hancock brought in a WHOPPING $101.5 million (Wednesday to Sunday) and $107.3 million since Tuesday previews!!!
This is Will Smith's 5th #1 4th of July opener, and second best ever opener for the mega star, with last years I Am Legend being his best, and is his 8th straight $100 million blockbuster! Also a new all time record for any star.
I've asked for Settlement based upon the fact that $101.5 million is sooooooo far ahead of $76 million, that it cannot change.
THANKS EVERYONE for such amazing amounts of bets and such active dialog here on the comments board :-D
It's been awesome! And remember, next week we have Hellboy2 and then soon will be THE DARK KNIGHT :-D

Hey scott I think you have a great point.... The 4th is on a Friday, with that said, I am sure Friday will do less then it usually would, but with Saturday and Sunday, I think it'll be more then adequate to top $80 million for the 5 days. We'll see though.
Hey, how was everyone's 4th?? MINE ROCKED!!! I spent the whole day (2pm - 12am) at our the first ever Belltown Block Party, put on by Mars Hill Church... Man, there were like 8 local bands, totally kicked ass, tons of food and drinks and people. I had a great 4th and then the Elliott Bay Fireworks to end it all... A really awesome day.
Hope everyone else had an awesome 4th and don't have too bad a hang overs when you read this tomorrow or today, lol :-D

UNOFFICIALLY HANCOCK TOPS $41.3 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i465bcd9a39c25c0b05e8ad9164a4e250
"Hancock" hits the Fourth of July holiday with $41.3 million in boxoffice loot already in the bank.
The Will Smith starrer grossed an estimated $17.1 million Thursday, following hauls of $17.4 million on its first official day in release in 3,965 locations Wednesday and $6.8 million from 3,680 "preview" playdates on Tuesday night.
Inspired by a graphic-novel series, the action pic seems well on track to cross $100 million domestically through Sunday.
.........................
I like what the Hollywood Reporter recognized in its article, that Tuesday was considered a PREVIEW and that the first OFFICIAL day of release was Wednesday and though it's topped $41.3 million, only about $34.5 counts towards the total for THIS question.
So here is where we stand folks:
Wednesday $17.4 million
Thursday $17.1 million (unofficial)
Total: $34.5 (unofficial)
To go to reach $76 million or More: $41.5 million ... And it has 3 more days, and those being the likeliest biggest days, to do this :-D
Man I am on the edge of my seat awaiting Sundays numbers :-D

scott..... Is that you? Did you do that? Lol, man you won't rest will ya, hehehehe, if you picked it, man it has a great payoff, but I don't think it will open under $30... Just my opinion, and look at my ranking, lol, MY WORST category is entertainment, LOL, that is my specialty in market creation, yet I suck at actually making money in it, LOL!!!!!
What? Who was the first person to bet and they picked $25 million or less? Man I am shocked. Have I lost my touch? LOL :-P
Was it not a good film? ... I haven't seen it, but how do people around you think of the film? Did anyone you went with or talked to love it, hate it, indifferent to it?
Hehe, thanks Tisha ... And Scott, I agree with you that you had a right to flag, but I also agree with the admins that this question was 100% up and up and that I could not foresee a totally unexpected change in circumstances, however, a 5 hour early release I still do not believe is to be considered a Tuesday release, as a 5 hour window is not even fair if the question had been for Tuesday. No one would like to bet on a Tuesday opening and then hear that their whole bet was based upon a 5 hour window, that to me is totally unfair too. So yeah, I think everyone has good points here, but I agree with the way Tisha settled it and I hope everyone is okay.
Thanks for the betting all :-D I am going to make another one like this for Batman and I will most certainly list in the description that in the event this such situation happens.

Yay I finally enter this market ... I have $250 on Hancock, just so everyone knows... Man I could be soooo wrong, but I think Hancock will slightly edge Wall-E after each has been out for 4 weeks.
I see Hancock around like $180 - $190 million after four weeks and Wall-E around $173 - $178 million after four weeks and as for Wanted, I see it around like around $137 - $143 million after four weeks.
BUT I am noooo expert and I've been wrong several weeks in a row as for totals. lol

I just checked HSX.com and it shows the following opening weekend estimates and the 4 week totals estimates for:
$27.541 million opening weekend ... $79.87 million four week total for "The X-Files 2: I Want to Believe"
$26.855 million opening weekend ... $77.88 million four week total for "Step Brothers"
Remember, this is just a website where the users place bets on films kinda like here, so it's all opinion and not like "experts" but yeah, just keeping everyone informed. And man does this differ from many other websites, as to estimates.

I just sent in a Settlement Request, and here is what I wrote:
Please settle this question with the winning prediction being "$15.1 million to $20 million"
Official studio numbers show that Hancock earned $17,386,366 on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008, which was it's officially scheduled release date, though the studio released it 5 hours early due to pent up demand, it is still considered to have been released wide on July 2nd due to it's early release coming only a couple hours before official 12:01am showings on July 2nd, per original studio release schedule.
Thanks,

Maybe from now on I need to write in BIG BOLD LETTERS that questions are for the first 24 hours straight!!! This is so flippin' ridiculous that creators of questions get bamboozled so badly sometimes! Just really pisses me off!
Scott come on dude! It is clearly stated AND the film has an official release date of WEDNESDAY July 2nd 2008! Look at ALL the posters and the official website and www.the-numbers.com and like Destry said, if there is a problem bring it up BEFORE betting and waiting till numbers come out!
Seriously man. This question is straight up! My history of question creating is nearly flawless and the founder of this very website said that I rank in the top percentage of users on the entire site for ACCURACY in my question creations! Don't pull this garbage on us!
Also, you said if it were opened on Wednesday, it'd have made $6.8 ... Dude, it made $6.8 IN 5 HOURS ON TUESDAY NIGHT! That means that it would have made the same as it actually did on Wednesday if not MORE... Read it, Wednesday it made $17.38 MILLION ... That is nearly 3 times your $6.8 million.
Dude, I understand losing a bet isn't fun, I lost thousands on Wall-E coming up short, and on my own question for pete's sake... But you know now and knew BEFORE today that this question was and is on the up and up, that I was being totally honest, that a sudden release 5 hours early by the studio is NOT my fault and on top of all this, MY DATE still stands as CLEARLY written: WEDNESDAY JULY 2ND!!! I am not responsible for them releasing it 5 hours BEFORE the officially announced, for like the last year, of July 2nd!
If you cause trouble over this, I am going to call Nigel (the founder of this website) and protest to him, as another user pulled this crap on me before and I was exonerated! The other user didn't READ the description and then blamed me for his losing a bet. Well, it was written uber clearly and everyone knew it, and the admins said I was not at fault. So please, for the sake of peace and a fun atmosphere around here, give it a rest, move on and keep playin' like the rest of us are doing.
Peace and chicken grease,

So please, for the sake of peace and a fun atmosphere around here, give it a rest, move on and keep playin' like the rest of us are doing.
Peace and chicken grease,

Totalllllly safe ... It'll make easily $25 - $30 mill noooooo problem ... This is the best guarantee of return on investment on HubDub :-D WOOT :-P
Hehehehe ... This rocks! Thanks guys for participating :-D Should make me very rich, thanks scott, LOL, actually I cannot bet for like another 11 hours :-( But when I can!!! You betta believe it, I will! :-D
Glad you guys like it :-)
Glad you guys like it :-)
WOW, how ironic... I bet $242 on Hellboy2/JttCotE/MeetDave and it pays $666 ... LOL ... $666, I couldn't have picked that if I'd tried :-P
I MUST change my opinion now! I was betting that it'd be JttCotE/Hellboy2/MeetDave... But after going to www.superherohype.com, I can not resist Hellboy2! This film is gonna be BIG on that weekend! It looks really good, and I thought the original Hellboy was totally stupid! But this one looks fun and sooooo weird!!! :-D
So yeah.

Notice that Favre DID NOT deny it?!?! He said RUMOR, that is a total change from his before comments, NO ... So, I think he was not "lying" by saying it's rumor and not denying it outright! He'll be back :-D
I think both of these movies will suck. But www.the-numbers.com surprisingly is predicting only some $60 total box office potential for Step Brothers and a whopping (in comparison) $100 million for The X-Files 2 ... This is way different from HSX.com's players calling for about equal box office returns of about $70 million a piece.
Official Wednesday Box Office results for Hancock:
#1 ... $17,386,366 ... Hancock ... Total to date: $24,221,400 (Though ONLY $17,386,366 counts towards THIS question at hand.)

#3 ..... $3,588,305 ... Wanted ... Total to date: $65,500,990

Destry's point is that these pretend critics bashed the film, yet since the film has actually been seen by real people, the ratings have not decreased meaning that no one is complaining :-D
Truth be told, complainers ALWAYS have bigger mouths than satisfied customers! When it comes to being just obnoxious, but people who like something, usually tell their friends and co-workers but only attention hounds run around the internet bashing something.
My point is this, I've not met ANYONE yet, who's actually seen this movie, who didn't really like it! So yeah, only time will tell, but I'm confident it'll be in mine and Destry's/Valors, favor :-D

I just made all my HANCOCK predictions public. Totals are $34,856 all on red, lol, meaning all on $76+ :-D
Destry is totally 100% correct.
Tuesday numbers are of course not counted, and yes, considering that this film made a whopping $6.8 million in just 5 hours is AMAZING! I heard the first showings were around 7pm, so yeah, that is HUGE money!
Again, ONLY Wed-Sun will be counted. So no one needeth freaketh outeth :-P
@scott, get ready for a mad 5 days man :-D One of us will lose BIG, along with Destry and Valor and many others, hahaha, SO EXCITING :-D

Well I think Joseph would be a DISASTER for McCain's campaign!!! That guy is three dimes short of a quarter and is the most boring guy in politics!!! It would be suicide to choose such a bafoon to run with! I agree with the sentiment that if he chose a woman or a minority like Colin Powell, that'd gain him soooooo much! But I guess Powell is outta the picture due to his disillusionment with the Republican party.
I want to bet in this market for the $10.1 to $15 million, but alas, I cannot, as I created it so I am restricted for the 1st 12 hours, so like, I will be asleep when this suspends :-(
BET BET BET in my stead :-P
BET BET BET in my stead :-P
@FingersofFury... DUDE that'd be an awesome market!!! LOL ... Quite creative of you man, hahahahaha :-D
@Scott... ANY film opening #1 at the box office on a 5 day weekend during this time of summer doing only $60 million is preposterous! I am amazed at your contrariness :-D ... It makes for a GREAT market though, with awesome money making potential for me and Destry and many others, hehe, so I thank you for that :-D ... And again dude, I am really glad you're taking much interest in this game, I love having opponents that square off against me and my friends, hehehe, this is soooooooo much fun, I mean it, lol :-D
But I'd like to point out a mathematical/historical fact that I made many weeks ago, and so I shall demonstrate it for you again here:
So let's look at this film again:
Will Smith last film I Am Legend opened in December not on a Holiday weekend and grossed $91.1 million in 5 days.
July 4th Holiday Weekend openers the last 1/2 a decade:
$87 million in it's first 5 days, 2002 = Men in Black 2
$72 million in it's first 6 days, 2003 = Terminator 3
$152 million in it's first 5 days, 2004 = Spiderman 2
$100 million in it's first 5 days, 2005 = War of the Worlds
$169 million in it's first 5 days, 2006 = Pirates of the Caribbean 3
$133 million in it's first 5 days, 2007 = Transformers
And remember, inflation and ridiculous growth in ticket prices during this 5 year period :-)
So yeah, I know you (scott) will be counting your money on Sunday, I just assume it'll be counting what you have left. I mean that in good fun but also in seriousness too as I truly believe that NO Will Smith superhero movie, no matter how badly it is critiqued, will do a paltry $60 million in 5 days. I mean seriously, that is just ultra unlikely in this day and age. I mean seriously, if Shrek the 3rd can make $600 million worldwide at the drop of a hat, and that movie was nothing but rehashed goat crap, then this film will easily make $76 million in 5 days, that a mere $15.2 million per day, and not much higher than your $12 million per day guesstimate.
I think Destry had it totally right: "I am guessing this movie makes 10 on Wednesday, 15 Thursday, 20 Friday, 25 Saturday, 15 Sunday"
I'll through my hat in this ring and guesstimate too: I am guessing this movie makes $12.5 to $14.0 on Wednesday, $14.7 to $15.4 on Thursday, $19.8 to $22.1 on Friday, $21.6 to $23.9 on Saturday, and $14.7 on Sunday.
This equals: $83.3 million to $90.1 million and this is slightly conservative.
Just my 2cents worth and I appreciate everyone's input thus far :-D Keep it up folks :-D

WOOOOOOT!!!!!!! $200,639 Hbucks bet!!!!!! Yeehhaaaaaaa ... Thanks everyone! This rocks! My first ever $200k+ market ever :-D
I just created a new HANCOCK market for those who wanna get some good money from this film but can't anymore cause of the virtual for sure bet of $76 million or More...

WOW!!!!!!!! LOOKS LIKE THIS WILL BE MY 1st EVER $200k or more Question!!! WOOOOOOT!!!! Thanks everyone for betting!!! I am sooo excited that people dig these Q's :-D
Anyone who bets UNDER $76 million is gonna lose every penny they bet! This film is gonna be massive! Maybe it ain't that great, in fact, I've felt since the very first time I saw the ads, that this film looks terrible, however, DESTRY is right in saying that bad word of mouth takes at least a whole weekend to truly get out and besides, there's been SOOOOOOO much hype for this film, and it is WILL SMITH WEEKEND, so history says that this will open MASSIVE and even if it sinks like a rock in water, that won't happen until week 2, and this Q only is asking about the first 5 days.
So yeah, waste all the money you'd like, but just cause the odds are amazing for anything under $76 million, there are major reasons for that, LOL, it means it ain't gonna happen.
Sure, a natural disaster could wipe out the entire east coast, and that'd kill this movie, otherwise, Will Smith will reign once again on the mega 4th of July weekend!
I see an absolute bottom of $82 - $85 million, if word of mouth is really awful, otherwise, anything over this amount is entirely possible :-D

Alrighty everyone, I've asked the admins to settle this Question with the winning prediction being "Wall-E by $17 million or Less."
Here are the Official Results: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080630/ap_en_mo/box_office;_ylt=AjNkCk9JSvxFEhwjgPSWhrVxFb8C
#1 ... $63,087,526 ... Wall-E
#2 ... $50,927,085 ... Wanted
So Wall-E easily beat Wanted by nearly $13.1 million ... Congrats to Wall-E, Pixar and all those who bet on "Wall-E by $17 million or Less."

Wall-E officially earned $63,087,526 at the North American Box Office. This means that the winning prediction was "$61 to $65 million" and with it last at 6%, whoever bet on this one should make a killing :-D
I didn't unfortunately :-( I bet on the "$71 to $75 million" and so I lost a couple grand.
I didn't unfortunately :-( I bet on the "$71 to $75 million" and so I lost a couple grand.
Well, it looks like Wall-E/Pixar still rule the Box Office with great wholesome entertainment :-D ... I give it to Wanted for such a strong showing! Good job on their part, but with the Question the way it was created, though Wall-E didn't do as much as anticipated and Wanted did a little more than anticipated, WALL-E IS STILL THE VICTOR :-D So anyone that bet on Wall-E by $17 million or Less, has one some major bucks :-D ... All bets on Wanted lost.
This looks likely to tie or maybe become Pixars 3rd biggest ever opening weekend AND it's doing it in a summer full of competition! Usually, Pixar ruled the Cold Holiday season, but since they started really attacking the summer, the numbers have been harder to muster, due to mega competition, so this shows amazing promise for this newest entry from the kings of animation Pixar/Disney :-D
The best thing about Pixar is consistency of product! ... None of their films have ever failed, yet the CG and traditional hand animation field is littered with failures! Some of the films by rival studios have done really, really well, but it's very hit and miss, yet Pixar continues to rake in the dough and produce films with mega merchandising sales, sequel potential, and even theme park rides! If for nothing else, you can ALWAYS count on Pixar to make big bucks and have a really consistent product and this weekend proves it again. Yet again #1 and yet again, over $62 million :-D
THANKS EVERYONE for betting on this one and making it a huge market! I loved it and thanks Scott for making it so chatty :-D ... I liked the competition, felt kinda like a sporting match, lots of fun. You brought some fire to it, hahaha, so yeah, good going man, and I hope you'll continue to bet on movie questions and we can continue our opposite views weekly, lol :-D
Next up.......... HANCOCK and then we have THE DARK KNIGHT! This summer ain't even close to over yet :-D

Well, truthfully, I didn't consider the Mummy/Hellboy comparison, and that's an awesome point man! I don't go to their sites either, cept for WALL-E :-D But you're right, I should go to them.
My issue with Journey is that it's like you said, not really getting any airplay, so it's a relatively unknown commodity in the movie market right now, secondly, Hellboy 2 is a franchise film, which means that anyone into comics, or liked or even disliked the first Hellboy, already know this film is coming, so to me that gives it a little leg up, and as for that stupid Eddie Murphy movie, seems to me that it'll suffer the exact same fate as Mike Myers "Love Guru." So far, I'm seeing NOTHING positive for this alien film of his and I think it'll CRASH and BURN at the B.O.
Eddie has a history of either realllllllllly huge films, or total disasters! So I'm picking this one as the latter.
BUT, you do bring up an interesting point about Hellboy/Mummy and so I'm going to www.the-numbers.com right now.............. BRB

Okay, so the Mummy films so far average like $52 million opening, and Hellboy WILL NOT do even close, however, the Mummy's were 7 and 9 years ago, and I was in a friends house last week and the trailer for Journey came on and the girl literally says "Oh that's Branden Fraser? ... Yeah looks like his film, he always plays in these kinds of movies."
And I take that as a negative, HOWEVER, that is also a positive as these films usually do pretty well and when you got something that works, why change it? So yeah, I agree with you on that correlation. One additional thought of mine, and of course I'm no expert and this is all just opinion, which ain't worth much in real life, LOL, but I could see Hellboy 2 opening mid $20's, Meet Dave opening mid teens, and Journey opening around $30-$35 mil. So yeah, JttCotE #1, Hellboy 2 #2 and Meet Dave #3.
Now that I've made a totally off the cuff prediction, I'm going to www.HSX.com to see what the expected B.O. is for each of these films according to those players, brb.....
.
.
.
.
.
#1 ... $28.320 mil ... Hellboy 2
#2 ... $18.124 mil ... Meet Dave
#3 ... $16.651 mil ... Journey to the Center of the Earth
So as you can see, I AM WAYYYYY OFF based upon the much larger community of HSX players. But I think they're wrong! :-D

WALL-E has the BIGGEST opening day EVER for a Pixar animated film!!!!!!!

@scott, GOOD job man, that is playing it smart! And to be honest, I did the same thing. I bet enough on the WALL-E by $17 mil or Less, that I'll almost break even if it wins but by less than $17.1 mil, however, it is ends up above $17.1 mil ahead, I'll make bank :-D
I'm honestly super glad to have you so into this fight man :-D I love HubDub and am glad you're getting more excitement out of it now and with the security play, you may just have some more bucks to play with :-) Nice goin' :-)

WALL-E About to Blast Off?
June ends this weekend and so far there's only been one film not to match expectations, or at least come relatively close to doing so. That said, none of the films have had massive breakout success either. That should change this weekend as WALL-E is tracking well above initial expectations.
At the beginning of the month, I was not overly bullish on WALL-E's box office chances. The lead character, WALL-E the Robot, doesn't speak, at least not traditional words. The lack of dialogue would make the movie difficult to sell to kids, while adult aficionados will be more enthusiastic. However, the tracking for the movie is through the roof and there are many who think the movie will top the list and have the biggest opening for a Pixar movie ever. Given its quality, this wouldn't be a shock. The record is currently held by The Incredibles at $70.47 mill
