I agree with you 99.99% Tisha... BUT the .01% comes from option 3 then. If option 3 is settled as YES, then wouldn't options 2 and options 6 also be valid settlement issues, as option 3 could NOT settle as YES unless option 2 had settled as YES also? I respect the implicit "ONLY" ... but honestly how could the meteorite be found to be magnetic if no meteorite was recovered? The arguement from people would be that they put money on option 2 or 3, and since they could both be valid settlements as YES ... there is much confusion to be had.
According to Boxoffice Mojo (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=weekend&id=darkknight.htm) it topped $530 Million this weekend!
I am confused by possible settlements also:
No evidence recovered or crater found or damage - NOT an option any longer as evidence (meteor fragments) have been recovered.
Meteorite recovered in Saskatchewan or Alberta - YES as it was recovered in Saskatchewan.
Meteorite will be magnetic - Unknown at current time
Crater from this meteorite found - Unknown (but unlikely) at current time
Damage to pvt property or livestock - Extremely unlikely, as damage would have been reported.
Any combination of above - ABSOLUTELY as any combination MUST include ONE item as an option.
With my comments above, at least TWO of the options MUST settle as YES and therefore this question needs to be voided, unless Hubdub is prepared to settle on two or more options being possible outcomes. NONE of the options except for #1 is mutually exclusive from the other and therefore if it is found that the meteor is magnetic then obviously both options #1 and #2 are valid correct responses, even though the last option claims "Any combination of above". The final option does NOT state that a combination would override any of the other options.
I love this question and think it was a great addition, but I feel that the settlement issues are much too vague and therefore open for too much interpretation.

I am a relatively thin person (read as skinny) ;) ... and I find the seats uncomfortable, so I have no idea how a person who is moderately (or more) obese could sit in an airline seat with any degree of comfort.
Not that I am an NFL fan ...but I am a tech fan and this is really cool stuff! I'd love to see 3D sports, hockey and NASCAR would be so cool ...especially if they add smell-o-vision to NASCAR too ...could you imagine the smell of burning rubber and exhaust right in your living room. ;)
Debbie was euthanized today due to massive organ failure. :(

Ok... I guess I have to admit defeat (reluctantly) although the site that Jenni sent does also say ESTIMATE! LOL
I am going to protest this one until I am blue in the face ;) .... ALL the links except one point to a $70.4 million opening .... ONE link says $67 Mill (and change). I had the opportunity at a rather large payday based on the fact that most were predicting over $80 Million. ALL the major news organizations are reporting $70.4 Mill... but HubDub has chosen to report $67 Mill ... does NOT make sense to me!!!!

NOWHERE do these websites state that it is an estimate!!!!

Can someone find a link that has QoS making less than $70.4 mill? ALL the reports INCLUDING the one in the settlement request have it at $70.4 mill!!!!!!
Whoo hooo .. I put in $100 at 7.29% and will get $1372 for it!!! Nice guess, I have a really good week going with big pay days from the NASCAR race on the weekend too!!!!!
Yeah Ryan pointed it out to me and I expected the question to unsuspend then ...so I just sent the gentle reminder along. ;) I am glad because I have my money on FOX! LOL
This needs to unsuspend:
The settlement details say:
This should be settled with video:
- of a show which is broadcast daily (Minimum Monday-Thursday)
Since the use of the language occurred on a sports broadcast on a Sunday, it does not fit the criteria for settlement as listed in the details.

Here is a blog link to the discussion surrounding the "bad language" that was heard during the broadcast. The "word" is not mentioned, but the incident is:

Just heard the word "Shit" during the NASCAR broadcast on ABC. It was during a playback of audio between Chad Knaus (crew chief) and Jimmy Johnson (driver). The driver was told to leave the pits with a "Go, go, go, watchout, shit, sorry about that man" (as a car came out and almost hit him). ABC apologized for the "audio" and that was the only comment made. I don't have video of it though. :(
I still haven't taken favourably to the new home page either. I would much prefer a return to the categories on the front page as they used to be, or at least allow us an option to see the page that way. I find the new page to be too full of info and not interesting, whereas the category view used to be quite diversified and interesting.
The questions states "Announce" whereas the options don't! Someone should have caught it sooner!!! :(
Actually the Bloc got 10% and 50 seats ... The Greens got 7% and ZERO seats ....something is seriously wrong with this system!!!!!!
c'mon someone HAS to attach a pic to this one!!!!! Creepy Clown pics are a dime a dozen on the net! ;)
This is very interesting. I agree with Pulloverthatasstoophat (holy cripes man what a long name LOL)... if the remains are determined to be Steve Fossett's, but that is not determined until 2009 (or later) ... the question should still settle as YES because the remains were found in 2008. The question says nothing about IDENTIFIED in 2008 ...only FOUND! These remains were FOUND in 2008 and therefore the questions cannot settle as NO until the remains have conclusively been identified as Steve Fossett's or NOT Steve Fossett's!
Personally ....I do not like it! <sorry> I like the questions being available by category on the front page. I find that a much more useful way of displaying and sorting the questions. I think that is a much better way for NOOBS also ...as they may not have interest in "Politics" and yet right now a number of questions on the front page are related to the US Election and therefore it may indicate to a NOOB that the site is all about US Politics and turn them away. Same could be said for the financial questions which are also dominating the popular questions.
So if you want my opinion...go back to the old...or give us a choice.

I watched neither ... had to go out last night but did listen to some of the English debate on CBC radio ....very hard to listen on the radio to a bunch of people cross-talking at each other!!!!!
LOL ... after watching the French language debates last night ...I think I will stick to Survivor tonite instead! ;)
That makes sense. Question though ...what happens if Discovery happens to be the backup to Atlantis its next mission would this still settle as a yes? By February Endeavor could be busy with some other function and Discovery could be ready instead.
Interesting concept ... the question suspends in 1 week though and therefore could tie up funds for a long time. Have to wait for the Admins to weigh in on this one. ;)
I like the sliding scale idea too. $20 is nothing if you are broke ... but $100 would be really nice to help to get you back on your feet.
The Manitoba one is not connected:

I'm certainly NOT a noob! I've been here for quite a long time, but my net worth doesn't show that! ;) I guess I am very conservative for the most part, although a couple of "longshots" have paid off for me and helped to get my net worth over $9000 HB. I joined when I saw a report on the net about the site and thought it sounded kinda cool. I've tried to create "Canadian Content" questions as I am a very proud Canuck.
I think the forums are a great idea, because this way I can get to know some of my fellow Hubdub'ers and maybe figure out how to get my net worth into the six figure bracket.

You also have to take into account the 5 party factor ...I am pretty sure the Greens will take a few seats in this election, the NDP will take their usual number, and the Bloc will get theirs in Quebec. This leaves a limited number to split between the Conservatives and Liberals and therefore makes the possibility of a minority government much higher. This also means that the split vote could allow either party to win, including the Liberals, even though they are lower in the polls.
Great question Mork ...beat me to it!!!!!
She is gagged because the main parties in Canada have banded together to exclude the Green Party from the televised Leader's Debate even though the Greens have a sitting member in the House of Commons. The Prime Minister claims that the Greens are basically Liberals in disguise and that if the Greens are allowed in the Debate, then he will not attend.

Ryan, in the background info, it states: "But a book by Japan's Professor Toshimitsu Shigemura at Japan's respected Waseda University says Kim died in the autumn of 2003 and a series of stand-ins have since taken his place at official state event. " ... and therefore it that claim is proven to be true then he would have died prior to 2008.
I created this question back in May ... and I guess it was a death pool of sorts. As a proud Canadian, I am very sad that this question had to settle as a yes ...especially since the latest deaths all occurred from a base in Manitoba and not far from me. One of my friends works on the base and is in the psychology dept and I know she is going through a rough time right now. I watched the numbers climb steadily over the last couple of months and realized that this was going to settle as a yes eventually and yes I did make a lot of money because of it ... I wish I hadn't though. :(
Wow...no money to be made on Dec...but Nov or Jan payoff big time ...I am hoping for an early or late baby!
I had not heard about Mike Frastacky ... so the number is at 97! Sadly I don't think that the number is going to be that close to 100 that we have to try to be 100% sure on the numbers. I have a feeling (and I hate it) that it will surpass 100 without difficulty considering the climate over in Afghanistan.
I guess I lost count somewhere .. the total number of Canadians killed in Afghanistan is currently at 96. 93 soldiers, I diplomat and 2 aid workers.
Today we lost three more bringing the total to 95. :(

And HP latest movie has now changed the release date until July 2009:

That changes the possibilities here!

I would agree that if Time was to announce the cover in the next month that Phelps would be a pretty good candidate for the title, but since they do not announce it until later in the year, his achievements will be overshadowed by other events that have occurred. While Phelps is certainly an inspiration to many, I am not really sure that he can hold his stature for that long, especially considering that most Olympians are forgotten about for most of their careers, and their names only come into the limelight as the Olympics approach.
When I created this question I did not specify that it was Canadian SOLDIERS deaths only and therefore as of today the death toll of Canadians in Afghanistan is 92 with the deaths of two Canadian aid workers. One had duel citizenship with Canada and Britain:

really good question and makes one really think ...of course the person of the year could be decided by a major event that occurs just prior to publication. The death of a prominent person could push them to the top of the Time ladder as could the election of the first African American POTUS (IF that occurs) ... so this takes a little speculation and a lot of luck! ;)
Sadly our total is now up to 90 with the deaths of two soldiers in three days. :(

LOL sorry dragon .. I had this one a long time ago .. Jenni emailed me a couple of days ago to say she had added background. I guess it was your background and it is EXCELLENT ...so kudos to you for that!!!!!
I would like this question clarified. "....the Albertan bus murderer..." while the person accused of the crime is from Alberta, this event actually occurred in Manitoba (not far from where I live). The question leads to some confusion on first read as the title suggests that the crime occurred in Alberta!
The odds may be off a bit .. BUT when the jackpots become large (as this one is) then more people play and therefore the odds of two people (groups) choosing the same numbers increase and therefore large jackpots are usually won by more than one person (group). As for the carry over odds ... it has not been won for 4 draws (I think) and therefore there is a statistic likely hood that it could not be won again. I placed the odds at what I felt best, but they could be off a bit.
Just so there is no confusion. A group of people could share the jackpot on 1 ticket and still be considered as ONE winner. For it to settle with the third option (Jackpot won by 2 or more persons (or groups)) there must be 2 or more winning tickets purchased!
This still has not happened? WOW!!!!!!! Maybe I should go streak a sporting event just to settle the question LOL
With Hellboy II and Journey to the Centre of the Earth both opening this weekend, there will be a good split between the top three movies and therefore Hancock will drop into 2nd or 3rd place.
Still a mystery but results soon?

This one will probably top the $76 million mark .. but there is no money to be made on that bet so I am going with a lower prediction and hoping that all the theatres projectors die on Sunday! ;-)
When I voted on this question, I fully understood the intent of the question to be someone being found INSIDE the ferry alive. I voted with that point in mind and therefore would have no issue with it being settled as NONE. I voted (and expected) for between 1 and 10 people to be found alive and therefore I am all for settling against my vote. I think the question was worded clearly enough and there is no need for a void.
Even though "string bikinis" may remain banned, along with thongs, I still do not see that there is going to be enough information provided in the minutes to settle this one to the satisfaction of everyone. The ruling is vague and the possible outcomes on this question are just as vague. It is unfortunate that someone did not pick up on the vagueness of this question prior to the suspension date. I would suggest a void on this also to alleviate any possible conflict that could occur from a "wrong verdict."
I am just wondering though if they want any bikini inspectors ...because I am more than willing to volunteer for the position ... and I feel that to do a proper inspection, it would be a real hand-on job! :-)

Interesting ...so how does this one get settled then? NONE of the options (IMHO) work for the settlement to the decision that has been rendered. The bikini ban has been lifted, but the thong ban remains in place ... so option #2 does not apply. It is not a total lifting of the ban and therefore option #1 does not apply, and the ban does not remain firmly in place and therefore option #3 does not apply.
This was an excellent question but probably should have had one more option: Bikini Ban is lifted, Thong Ban remains in place, and then the market could have been settled.

Yeah but it has now dropped to the more legimate level of around $300,000 with the elimination of the fake bids!
I would have to agree ...Detroit sounds likely or Pittsburgh? IF he is traded it will be to a cup contender ... it would make no sense to Matts to go from one "bad" team to another!!!!!
TY. Not sure if they want him, I am amazed that the Leafs have allowed the Habs to talk to him. This one could go either way but I set the odds a little to the "No" side.
Finally!!!! I had faith ...I knew that Junior would win one! And he did it in classic style by taking the risk on fuel. Albeit he ran out and couldn't do any burnouts ... but WTG Dale!
Ewww. the pic that goes with that story is nasty!!!!!!
Canauckfan ... quiet!!!!!! If CBC hears about that idea they may jump on it and run!!!!! Lets just hope that they are not quite that stupid!
For anyone on Facebook ...I created a group about the HNIC Theme Song:

bcquelph: The pollsters have Obama and McCain at a near deadheat. Why such a big spread in Hubdub?
I was wondering that too. Are people voting with their brains or their hearts? I would love to see Obama in the White House but from the sounds of it there is a lot of opposition to him getting there.

Thanks Diana ... eventually you realize that the initial info being released is no where near correct. I think this death toll will rise a lot more yet.
I hope it makes it ...but I am betting on NO because of the odds and the fact that Mars landings have not been all that successful!
This woman is very lucky to have these and to have held onto them for this long! Wish someone would have given me something like that!!!
This question should have a suspend date of Sat May 3rd 6:00pm EDT because the race will be starting not long after that!
I will take Lesley's interpretation. When I created the question I screwed up on that part and should have put it as between NOW and the end of summer (Sept 20th) ... but since I did state summer without any other qualifiers ... then it should only count as during the summer season... and since the question relates to a North American country, it should be counted as the summer season during that country.
I am sorry...but who is the genius that figured that monkeys wouldn't learn to swim? I'd like to take bets on whether he is gonna get fired!!!!!
Although Brenda Martin was found guilty today and sentenced to 5 years in prison ... I request that this question NOT be settled until April 30th. There is still the chance (although remote) that she will be transferred to a Canadian jail prior to that date.
Yeah makes me proud to be a Canuck ...NOT!!!!! I couldn't believe this when I heard about it ... especially since it was a first round series against a team that supposedly had no chance against Montreal! Shameful and embarrassing is all I can say!
Big Brother is not prerecorded ....it is ongoing with a prerecorded shows AND a live portion. The final results are done via a live vote on the final day. Each week there is a live show with a live eviction on Wednesday ...so the results of Big Brother are NOT predetermined and subject to spoilers!
Can you say "Charlie's Angels"? I don't think that Forsyth was announced as "Charlie" until long after the show went off the air.
LOL...ok so I lost my $20.00 on this one ...but I think that Hubdub just decided this one on which payout was the least! <just kidding folks>
Yikes ...haven't even got to the 2008 Olympics yet and we have a 2010 question!!!!! Good question though... I think the odds are a little skewed to start. USA should be closer to Canada/Germany.
Too funny ...but I voted against the article and went with July ... there could be delays that push the release date back. I doubt whether they would release earlier than June ...but that could turn into a really good bet if they did!
