i usually watch the newest and the closing soon ones....people like to wager right when stuff closes and alot of times i believe differently than most people so the newer Q's will give me a percentage i'll wager on....but yeah, mostly just playing the odds, buy low sell high

i didn't think it was ambiguous at all...nowhere does it say that only the old votes counts, in fact it explicitly states with or without new votes...this is a common problem here, where betting has been open for awhile and then one person comes in and reads something into the question(such as windchill being a part of temperature) that isn't there and asks about it, then the question gets changed without any discussion...as to the point of the odds being too good to be true, as a former member of mensa i find that i have alot of different beliefs from most other people and it has worked quite well for me...for instance i just got in on the question of who will win more delegates on feb 5, hillary or obama....someone had driven up hillary to like 98% even tho obama is ahead by more votes than are still out so there's no way that hillary can come out with more votes(and that's from multiple sources, not just one)...or the one about there being a contested convention for the democrats...no one seems to realize that they are not enough delegates left for either candidate to win outright because all the news stories take into account superdelegates and everyone is betting someone will win beforehand....it's simply not possible...does that mean the percentages are too good to be true? no, it simply means people don't really think about what they are being told...people just don't read enough and make too many inferences (as in this case as well)

yeah, but see, when i first heard a whisper about the revote in florida, i put money in the market, then when i heard about michigan too, i threw a whole bunch more in...then the admin comes along and says that that is not what the question means...it takes alot of fun out of the game....i posted the "where will the spy satellite hit earth" question and pulled my money out at a loss on that question too because once the government said they were going to shoot it down, someone started a topic in getsatisfaction & it was ruled that if the rocket hit the satellite the ruling would be none/blown up into tiny pieces"...by that definition, even if a piece fell down and destroyed a car it still wouldn't have hit the earth in hubdub's eyes because the rocket had already hit the satellite...this is a common occurence and i mean really, i could go around and find some little unwritten crack in almost every question and turn it into a win and the admins are helping people do that albeit unintentionally....they have some great rules and if they would just follow them it would work alot better...but to just come into a question in which the circumstances have changed and make some arbitrary judgement without any input for the bettors is not in the interest of this site and i frankly don't want to wonder if my 5k or 10k bet is going to be turned into a bonehead move and basically made to be impossible to win because of a ruling that was given after i placed my bet

it all got very boring for me after a week or so and i started down the opening higher/lower and the "what will the tens digit be" questions
the cheating thing goes back to an update they installed and as a side effect it made the percentages swing way out of whack for a couple hours and i happened to be looking at the listings at just the right time and found a bunch of question that were in the 0-5% range and wagered like 200 on each....when i woke up in the morning, after they had fixed the bug, i ended up going from like 100k upto 350k or so and i put a topic on getsatisfaction(which never got answered) about it and finally after 2 days of people bitching about me cheating in another topic, another user sent me a link to the new topic....once i explained what had happened everyone chilled out.....a simple way to cheat, if you have the money, is to play the stock market...buy in at least 3 different positions(not the most likely one at the time) and with enough money you can swing the market on your own...lets say options are 12,000-12,099 12,100-12,199 12,200-12,299 12,300-12,399 and 12,400-12,499...buy 1k in 12,200- at a low price and 1k in 12,300- at a low price....once 12,200 goes up to 40 percent, you can sell it...that'll make the percentage on all the rest go up including your 12,300 which u can then sell at a profit...u just gotta have enough money to make the market swing and u gotta do it early enough...after 2 p.m. EST it doesn't fluctuate as much...and then other people will buy in at the low points too so u can make even more money...right now there's 3 people who do the same thing...they're all optimists btw, so if the markets going down you can make more money then if it's going up

you have to go way into they're website to delete your account and they'll delete personal info and crap, but not any kinda of posts i make....i mean questions change over time over time and we had this discussion before in getsatisfaction & somewhere in they're rules they state that they will get users opinion before making decisions on controversial decisions and they just coming into the middle of a market and arbitrarily decide what a question means based on their own interpretation and one other person's questions without getting any input from anyone else...after the ruling, at least 2 other people said they thought the same way i did...this has happened MANY times in only the 2 months i've been here...after an topic in getsatisfaction they said they would start identifying who was staff by an avatar...we have avatars why not them??....and go look in get satisfaction..there's at least 4 topics of mine that they haven't answered

yes as i said about i realize its a beta, but not responding to your users and not following your own rules is unnacceptabel
as far as my pride goes, i have already admitted several times that i should be nowhere near first place...i won roughly 200k by getting in the right side of a temporary bug(in which everyone accused me of cheating) and then another 100k because of a mistaken settlement...i just will not participate in a site that doesn't have any sense of consistency...plus alot of times they just ignore me on getsatisfaction (ie the common links page so we can see their settlement sources...last i checked 5 others had this same idea, but no response form staff)....also they promised to start identifying who worked for the company after the ND temperature question, and i still dont see any way to tell who they are without conversing with them or going to my profile page and looking thru the first 10 or so users, which doesn't even work now since they have multiple screen names now ie ryan and the doctor: slummymummy and their other handle....we have no way of knowing when they are going to clarify an question and they dont even suspend the question when there is doubt about the wording....i understand this is a beta, but there are better ways to run a website...4k isn't much to me, even if i had lost the 10k i wouldn't be complaining, but when they changed the meaning of a question, it should simply be voided...they seem to just accept the interpretation of the first person who writes in instead of getting a consensus like their own rules state...i wasn't even allowed to share my thoughts on this subject and at least 2 other people thought the same way i did but they also didnt get to converse until ryan banged his gavel and said "this is the way it's going to be"

i think he means it will be settled as no....the original delegates must be able to go vote in the same way as the original votes, which won't ever happen i think...i figured a new vote would happen in each state and hillary would get some delegates so i voted yes-the whole "with or without new caucuses" part made me think a new vote would be included in this Q-then saw ryan's post the next day and cashed out after losing 2grand...u can even see where i placed my bet-the big jump in yes and then when i cashed out after someone else bet big on no...my advise would be to stay away from this question if you haven't already bet on it.
how is it that the percentages change after suspension...this is the second time that's happened...my screen said suspension time reached and percentages were at 30something on 12,000-12,100 and then i hit refresh and it's now 3% anyone else notice this?
there is still no winner from super tuesday...i have put in a question on getsatisfaction because by the links i've been watching obama is ahead by more votes than are still up for grabs...pretty funny that the party can't even figure out who won that day
how are we going to settle this?...i read yesterday that there's like 2dozen republican congressmen that aren't running for re-election, will they get counted for this question or does the incumbent have to run and lose the election
can anyone get a list of names for these 6 people...there's a trial or something taking place right now, but i'm not sure if it's one of these people
i dont know jers...neither one can realistically win the nomination without the superdelegates votes and i think they'll be deciding at the convention(maybe if florida and michigan re-vote)....i think he's gunna try to trade his delegates for a spot in the new administration
i clicked on the settlement link and placed a bet without realizing that the link was for all of the u.s. why are you not using the link for just alaska...seems it would be easier and less confusing
yeah, i've noticed that last one on this market the last couple days...on other Q's i've had it tell me that the market has changed and takes me back to the wager screen, but then it wont let me actually place a wager, i have to go back to the Q page to place a wager.
hmm...those seem like strange numbers homeboy...if a Q is at 10% and you put a $500 bet on it, lets say the calculator tells you you're buying in at 15%, then when you go back to the question, it'll read 20% and if you cash-out immediately, it'll say you're selling at 15%....u basically buy and sell at the halfway point of the pre-wager and post-wager percentages...i can only assume you put alot of money in on this and what probably happened was other people cashed out meaning u now hold a larger piece of the pot and that's why there's such a big difference between the cash-out percentage and actual question percentage

cnn and msnbc both have obama ahead cnn is 840-824 obama on ST with 17 vote outstanding and 903-875 total upto feb 5th....msnbc has it 842-827 obama on ST with 12 votes outstanding and 920-884 upto feb. 5th....in california, cnn has it 204-161, msnbc has it 207-163, both clinton...maine voted feb 2 (15-9 obama on both), but votes again on the 10th...msnbc counts these on the 2nd, cnn on the 10th, thats why different totals

they had plans at the ready to delay the 2004 election...i think if we have a terrorist attack around that time, they'll try to delay it...i don't trust this administration at all
